My Father :[

My dad he used ot be in really good shape all through out his life, at my age of 16 he was benching 200 and hes only 5'5" but anyway the past idk decade hes been in a few car accidents and his back is really bad he said its between his L4 and L5 in his spine. Hes been starting to work out with me helping keeping me motivated, but he always complains about his back and idk how to help him as in tell him what to do. he says doing normal stretches as in sitting down legs out in front he cant do because he knees are also bad and he cant keep em locked with out being in pain. any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

What your dad needs to do is go to a physiotherapist and get a core stabilization/strengthening program. He really needs to have the physiotherapist see him doing the exercises so they can correct his form and keep him on track.

I could give you a list of exercises, but if your dad doesn't do them right, it's not going to help him.

That's my advice. It's probably not what you wanted to hear, but with an L4-L5 issue, he needs to see a professional.

Reverse Hyperextensions! Look at what it did for Louie Simmons, lol.

You and your reverse hypers :) You really love those, don't you? Louie did fracture his L5 and came up with this exercise, though. But Louie was already in really good shape.

So it's probably not a good idea with an L4-L5 issue and being in a slightly atrophied condition. No hyperextensions yet ... the only muscles that are going to be firing are his erector spinae and some hamstring action. If his hamstrings get tight, then his back is going to hurt more.
