My dairy

Ya know what? I ate chorizo last Tuesday. :)

Try to get out of the mindset of food being inherently bad or good. Chorizo isn't bad. Eating a LOT of chorizo is bad. But look at the nutritional value:
1 link/4 oz - Calories: 200, Total Fat: 10g, Carbs: 1g, Protein: 19g

A scrambled egg burrito with a little chorizo is a decent choice. Yeah, it's a bit high in fat, so you'll have to watch your fat intake the rest of the day, but even so, for that 200 calories, you're getting a nice bit of protein.

It's all about balancing out. Take smaller portions of what they offer if it's unhealthy ... and try to balance it out with healthier choices later.

Don't give up a couple of days with a friend because of food. It's not worth it. :) Go, have a good time, and make the best choices you can in the circumstances.

Today was...interesting.
Woke up, immediately went to the scale. One scale, not 2. :p

It said I was 236.5, so that means I've lost 3.5 lbs since I started last week.

I didn't do any strength training today, because I did some yesterday on the wii fit. Tomorrow when I do strength training, I'm going to use the wii of course but not weigh myself on it..I need to pick one scale and stick with it.

Then I went jogging...for the couch to 5k program. Today is day 3. It went OK I guess, besides the fact that a little after halfway through it my shin's began to hurt like hell, and even cramp up again... At the end it was very hard to even walk...damn shin pains...this better go away, if it would it would make things SO much easier. I completed it though, 3 days down! Not sure if I'm going to take jogging off tomorrow, we'll see.

Heya. See ... one scale - gives you actual progress to chart! :p

About the shins, do take tomorrow off of running. Even if they're not actual shin splints, the muscles and tendons and so forth in your legs are going to have to get used to the impact of running. You don't want to cause permanent damage - so let them have some recovery time. :)

So we went to the store today, I got some celery, bananas, some new whole wheat bread, we bought wild salmon real cheap at walmart, some tilapila (other kind of fish).

After reading the Dr.phil book one of the things it had in there was grilled salmon, so instead of coating it with nuts like she usually does, I decided I was going to try out your spicy fruit glaze for meats that you made in your diary, sounds great. We don't have apricots but we got rasberries..I think

I got some 60 cal yogurt and some low calorie hummus, I made a snack earlier put some hummus on some celery...mmm

I ended up going to subway, got a sub there and piled it high with veggies that I normally don't eat. Olives, cucumbers, pickles, lettuce, etc.

Question to kara:
Before I started Couch to 5k...I would jog/walk a little (But not as much), so I've been jogging a little before I started couch to 5k, for about a week now. Should I still take tomorrow off for jogging? What should I do for exercise tomorrow, would strength training with my wii fit be enough? Or should I just take the day off with exercise tomorrow?

Kara, you've been more than helpful. I'd PM you but I haven't been a member for 5 days yet so I can't, what did you think of my magic that I posted in the other thread?

I'm glad I've been helpful.

Honestly about the exercise I think you need to follow your body. If your shins are still hurting, I'd take the day off. You don't want to cause actual injury.

If you feel like you need to or want to do something, then sure, throw in the wii fit stuff. But a day off isn't the end of the world and might help you be more productive if you exercise day after tomorrow.

Updated...final

Had some wild caught salmon serving with a melody of veggies, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli...salmon had some low fat caedar dressing on it while it was cooking..

I tried my best to make this accurate as I could...and boy I'm stuffed after that salmon.

Well I felt adventurous today as well so I decided to walk and jog with my dog to see if I could run to the mail box without stopping...and...I DID IT! :D

I had to really push myself though...after taking a 5 minute break because I was so out of breath, I jogged/walked around the block once with my dog...he didn't mind, he seemed so happy to get out.

Well, woke up today, had a real trouble waking up. Decided to take exercise today off...I check my email and BAM I see like 30 notifications that there's been a post in certain threads on this forum...I don't want to be notified everytime there's a response in a thread..takes up too much space on my email, so I deleted the subscriptions, I hope that will fix the problem.

Weighed myself today, down another .5 lb. I'm 236 now, for a total weight loss of 4 lbs.

Breakfast:
1 1/4 serving of carrots (40)
Garlic and herb low fat cheese wedge (35)
on some whole wheat bread (120)
Banana (109)
The usual quaker cereal, (150)
Total cal: 454

I'll keep ya'll updated ! Gotta go to work in 30 minutes...

I think in your user CP you can select to not have email notifications sent you your inbox. Great job on the 4 lbs lost, and also on running.

:whine:, but I'm jealous of people like confuzzledwife who loses 6 lbs in a week!

How do I shut off the subscriptions email notifications? I deleted the subscriptions but not sure if this did it...

Lunch:
60 cal yogurt
a seasoned turkey sandwhich on 2 slices of whole wheat bread
(240 for the bread, 50 for the turkey, 60 for the yogurt)
3 bottles of water
1 diet coke
Cal for lunch:350

Snack:
A piece of watermelon (86)

Total cal: 890

As a side note, I put my BMI in one of those weight calculators to see how much I need to eat in calories to keep losing weight. Basically it said I had to eat about 1,990 cal a day to lose 2 lbs a week, so I'm trying my best to stick under 2000.

haha Kevin... don't be jealous!! The last time around I lost a lot the first week, but after that it's only like 1 or 2 lbs a week. You are doing great!!

I'm glad you beat me to that Kara, I looked for it but didn't find it, I just knew it was somewhere in there...lol!

I'm jealous too, I want to lose 6 lbs in a week without having to have a major appendage amputated. *pouts*

Thanks, that fixed it.

I woke up at 10 am soooooo tired today...I am *not* a morning person, sigh.

I can't wait until fall it starts to get cooler here in arizona, even at night its 100+ degrees. The only cool time is in the morning before the sun comes up. I wouldn't mind running anywhere near as much if I didn't have to wake up so early every day..which is why I'm looking forward to fall.

I gotta go to school tomorrow for a few hours again, so I can't crash when I come back running. I usually set my alarm to 4:50, to give me 10 minutes of 'cushion' time to wake up, because I tend to never want to get up. But I'm setting my alarm and going running tomorrow, no matter what! I hope to do the wii fit strength training too, I just hope I'm not tempted by weighing myself on it...:banghead:

I got some smart water with 0 calories and electrolytes waiting for me, I can't stop thinking about week 2 either, right now with 60 seconds I can BARELY do it, I don't think I'll be able to run for 1 minute and 30 seconds straight..I may have to do week one more than twice to get my stamina up..

Don't feel bad about having to do week 1 twice or even three times.

In fact I'm on week 4 of week 5 right now. :D

That's a good idea, I think I'll do week 1 3 times or maybe even 4 .

My mom's such a great support group, she's just starting the healthy lifestyle with me. We're cooking some beans and rice with southern spices (I think 290 cal per serving, I'll double check), salmon from last night with some of your fruit glaze on it (I come home and I see she bought some sugar-free apricot preserves! We're going to use your recipe for fruit glaze on meat kara..) She also bought some apricot rotisserie chicken, how healthy is this chicken? The apricot flavors is on the skin I think, so I shouldn't eat the skin right?

Pudding 70

Snack: Sugar free chocolate pudding, I had a real craving for chocolate and salty cheese crackers lately..this pudding had 70 calories. I'm thinking I'll head over to safeway tomorrow on my job maybe and buy some better cheddar's and portion them out, really craving them..

a little over 2 pieces of semi sweet ghiradelli chocolate (Sorry, had a bad craving)
(250)

After going jogging today around the block, I come back, shin's aren't hurting much and then I feel my right shin/leg, it doesn't hurt. However, on my left shin there's a certain 'spot' or 'pressure point' in which it really hurts, only in that one spot. Its like a dull/ache sharp pain, I hope this goes away. I'm having trouble sleeping today..

Woke up today, went on the scale, no weight change.

Started my 4th day of Couch to 5k program, went jogging. Feeling good other than my damn shin's are KILLING me...

I may do the strength training on the wii once the pain subsides..I'll keep ya'll updated
