My Daily Weight Loss Journal!

Hey folks

I'm a 27 year old guy and have been trying to lose weight all my life! lol. I lost LOTS of weight with Tom Venuto's BFFM some time ago, but I really can't be doing with all the calorie counting any more.

I realized that I posted some pictures of myself on THIS forum in March 2009 when I was hell-bent on losing weight. I look at myself now and I actually look fatter!!!!

This is NOT happening. I refuse to go through the rest of my life wishing I could have a normal physiological body instead of a grotesquely fat one.

It all starts for real today. I am basing much of my diet on Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live program.

As part of my exercise regime I will do weight training initially only for hypertrophy, twice per week. later I will focus on strength.

I'd been doing steady state cardio (30 minutes jogging on a treadmill) every day of the week for the last 8 months - I lost absolutely NO weight doing that, what a waste of time. I'll now start doing high intensity interval training on the days I'm not doing weights.

Wish me well. I've attached my before pics.

(thanks fred33colors, how's it going for you?)

Just had my first high intensity interval workout this am before work.

Ran from one tree to another in the park - 100% effort, 3 bursts. Twas so draining I had to rest some 3 minutes between bursts.

First burst: 33 seconds
Second burst: 31 seconds
Third burst: 33 seconds (was absolutely knackered during this one)

(I did some of this last week, my record time was 34 secs, so I've improved already :)

Wow, I was SO knocked out after that. My thighs, lower back and lower abs are still burning 30 mins after the workout, totally drained but feel great.

HIIT seems a great cardiovascular AND skeletal muscle workout. I'll keep at it to see if it burns fat.

Ok, I've had an excellent day in terms of exercise and a good day for food.

Did HIT as mentioned this am.

Around lunchtime managed to get in my weight training workout - shoulders, back and triceps. The back workout was especially good.

Did some functional training tonight, adapted from the program Lean Hybrid Muscle, by carrying sandbags (40kg in total) up the stairs - an excellent workout. Managed to climb the stairs all the way up (29 steps) and down once - I was huffing and puffing by then and had to put the bags down. Felt great afterwards.

Didn't eat too much, which is usually my biggest problem. Think I'm getting on great!

My biggest feat today however, maybe the fact that I've started reading a book called 'Mastery' by Geroge Leonard. Seems quite good, will post on here about how it helps me - I'm convinced it will. It talks about dedication to the journey, rather than looking for a quick-fix - a common problem in the weight loss industry, in my opinion it's the biggest problem. Our mindset is what lets us down, not our technique.
