My clothing sizes, compared to other girls

Ok, this is a question I've been wondering about for awile.

I am 5'7 127 lbs, and at American Eagle, where I shop, I'm a Large in shirts and a size 8 in pants. Im just wondering, why am I so much bigger than all my friends who wear smalls and are size 5?

It makes me feel so depressed that I have to wear a Large, which makes me feel Large. My friends say I'm not fat, but obviously, I don't believe them.

My goal is to reach size 0-2 and a small in shirts.

omg a size 8 :0 sorry but that is really little and u have nothing to worry about !!! take a look at your friends.... are they different heights do they have different body shapes do they like different things... of course they do every one is different and u need to accept ur self for who u are !!! and do listen to your friends because there is no way u could be fat if ur 5'7 and weigh 127 !!!

ok first thing - stop comparing yourself to everyone else. no two bodies are the same, we all are so different and that is what makes us unique. so your bone structure is different from your friends, its ok. size 8 is not big.. and as for a large top thats okay too. at your height and weight i doubt very much that you are as big as you think you are.. i am 2 inches shorter and i range from 120 - 125lbs right now. and i can tell you i am not fat, i am healthy and i feel great. love how your body is made its the only one you have and it serves you well. don't worry about what everyone else looks like or what size they wear. concentrate on being healthy and fit.

I just wanted to add that clothing companies are not created equal. I read an article about how stores that promote to pre-teen/teen populations are making their clothes smaller and smaller.

You may be a large at American Eagle, but you could be a small or medium at another store.

I am 5'6" and weigh between 125 and 130 pounds. I am certainly not fat. Jenn makes some great points... if you compare yourself to others, you will always be chasing something that is NOT YOU.

Get perspective too :)

I just replied to your other post and then saw this one. Please, don't ever compare yourself to others. We are all SO unique and different that it's rediculous to even compare one human to another. Some people are made with larger bones and more msucles and some with smaller. Some people have wide hips some have narrow. Some have flat butts and some have bubble butts. We all just have to love ourselves the way we are and treat our bodies in a healthy manner.
A size 8 isn't fat on anyone, though! Most women could never fit in to a size zero unless their bones were removed!

I am a 4/5 right now. I was a 12/14.

I have a girlfriend that does fitness competitions and is 0 in most things during her season and then she is a 1/2.

Try not to get obsessed with the numbers....just do the process and the rest will take care of itself.

ummm sarah lets not go so far as to say a size 0 is so small that ones bones would need to be removed... lol its just a size that alot of ppl will never get into, that doesn't mean its bad..lol :)

shirts are such a bad estimate of size...pants are better...you may just have bigger boobs then they do...or a more muscular back

plus, you may just be taller.

hey i wouldnt worry, size 8 is really good, how old are you? sometimes the thing about our friends is that if you are younger some of their bodies havent filled out yet, check with them again when they are in college or after college, i bet they wont be a size five any more. and besides even if they still are, dont worry about that, you are you! and no one else should matter, you look good in a size 8 i bet and as long as u look good, dont worry about the number!

Size 8? There's really nothing wrong with that. Personally, I think girls get too slim when they're below size 2 or so. I can almost guarantee that you're much better looking than you think of yourself. Get an honest guy to give you his opinion, and have some self confidence! Guys dig when a girl is confident of herself =)

I would like to add as well nothing wrong with a size 8. It is a perfectly healthy weight.

I would like to say though that if you feel that you appear heavier than you weigh then maybe take in some more water to reduce water retention and think about doing a little strength training to put on some lean muscle mass to lower your body fat and tighten up your look some.
