ive started working out last week and i have been walking /running daily for the past week and today monday i went to the trail were i go walking and i couldnt finish my calfs were killing they felt really tight and sore i couldnt even finish beacuse of the pain so i walked back to my truck my calfs look to be kind of swollen but they are not hurting right now but if i try to walk for more than 5 minutes they start to hurt again should i be worried or should i just let them rest for a couple of days.

just sounds like you over did it. I'd give them a day or so to heal and do some heel raise stretches. If if feels like something is going to rip give it a few more days. If it's not better by then you might want to get it checked out....

i went running mon-friday stopped all of saturday and sunday and started again on monday and that when i got the pain it the legs

Are you stretching enough? Maybe you just confused them - they got two days off and relaxed! Seriously though, rest until it's no more than normal exercise soreness, and make sure you warm up gently, and stretch plenty.

yeah im going to take a break till thursday but till then what execises can i do so i loose some fat without running

When I started to run when I was 200lbs, I just wanted to lose weight as fast as I could. So I went out and ran 3 miles 6 days a week. After 2 wks I saw great results. At the time I was running with my buddy who was training to be a Officer in the USMC and needed to get to a 24min mile. The third week my butt hurt really bad but I went for a 3 mile run with him anways. well at the half way point I went down. I tore a muscle in the butt and couldn't work out for 4wks. From there on I went to Running 3 days a week, lifting 3 days a week.

It will hurt you much more to get injuried then to take your time to slim down!

Just take the rest. If you start to get better, but don't feel good to run yet, swimming might be easier on it. Otherwise, check out some strength training exercise for the upper body while they are healing! Anything that doesn't involve using the calfs - triceps, biceps, and shoulder excercises, back, chest, abs...

the aching is from 2 things, 1st of all when u exercise u build up lactic acid as a waste product in your muscles this can cause the aching ur now experiencing :p

to get rid of it make sure u stretch before and after ur workout, however stretch oly lightly before hand (this is relating to performance and output but dont worry about it too much just stretch light at the start and longer at the end)

also be sure to take it plenty of water, u need 2-4 litres a day anyway but when ur exercising u need to replace the fluid you are losing

the 2nd thing is as u exercise u are breaking down the connections with ur muscles fibres, essentially making loads of tiny little tears, when you stop and recover, mostly during sleep the muscle fibres rebond stronger than before, this is of course if you have enough protein to accomplish this

depending on your currently level of fitness and conditioning you may not be getting enough time to recover, be sure to rest, its very important
running is very low impact compared to say heavy lifting for example so you dont really need to be spending days on and off resting for ages to recover you probably arnt getting enough water, protein or sleep

make sure if u find ur legs aching you can do all of these to help;

massage them after excercise and while they are aching
get plenty of water before and after workouts
get plenty of protein
stretch light before exercise
stretch harder and longer after exercise
get enough rest, that means sleep!
