Today was my 1st athletic (attempt) run since P.E at school 6 years ago. I stretched for 10 minutes and ran 20 minutes, but my breathing was hectic
After about 3 minutes of running i was taking in more air than a hoover and it's really annoying because i have the dedication to run and get fit, but my health hinders me. I had to stop for 1 minute and run for 5 minutes then rinse and repeat. (this was at 23:00 btw.. my last meal was at 18:00, would my body of been low on energy ? and incase your wondering why i ran so late, i wanted to get home quicker than the bus)
What's the best way to start running.. slow pace, short distance for a week+ until your body gets used to it?
I just want to be able to run without wheezing and breaving like a maniac after the 1st few minutes (also noticed slight aches in the shin. Is it because i was running on concrete and i'm heavy weight?)
I was thinking of swimming to get a bit healthier as i can swim with least problems as i've got alot of experience swimming, ..then once i lose a bit of weight and improve my stamina, maybe implement running in my exercise.
I also hear its less strenuous to run on treadmills, should i use treadmills until i feel healthy enough to run outdoors?
Thanks.
