muscle loss

Is there always going to be a concer for muscle loss? I weigh 270 and if I were to create a calorie deficit would it take from protiens first or would it kill my fat off?

Are you a big muscular dude that has tons of muscle and little fat? Or do you have tons of fat and need to get rid of that?

If you have a caloric deficit you will lose both muscle and fat. But you must eat properly to sustain as much fat as possible. Your goal right now (assuming you need to lose the fat) is to work on a strength training plan and nutrition plan. Get those two things in check and you will lose A LOT of fat and very little muscle.

Keep your protein in check. 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean muscle mass on your body. Eat protein with every meal. I know on another post of yours you mentioned that eating chicken 5 times a day does not sound appealing. I don't blame ya :)

Drink a protin shake if you have to. Find other sources of protein. Cottage cheese is a good one. I only say not to worry about your muscle loss because (assuming your 270 pounds is mostly fat) your goal is body fat reduction.

How do you reduce body fat? Im sure you've seen my other posts on this forum... if you follow those 5 rules (eating right, drinking water, cardio, strength training and rest) then you will lose fat WHILE maintaining muscle.

Does that help a bit more?
