Mrs Bear's Diary

Hey Mrs. B
Just dropping in to say hi and wish you the start of a great week :D

Hey C and M2M, thanks for dropping by. I have not had a great weekend, I have been binging somewhat. Still avoiding sugar, but I am definitely going to have to do some more work on stopping this binging!! I'm not cured yet

Thanks for the prod, Cannon ;) I did okay yesterday, and today I am back on track 110%!! 1400 calories, and I did my high impact aerobics, so I am really happy. Now I just have to get rid of those 3 lbs the weekend brought with it!!

OK, I know this is taken out of context.....

I still get overtaken by men in their little lycra numbers!!

But it is very, very Saucy!!!

Hey, Mrs. Bear. Sorry I have not been by enough. You are a little Lance Armstrong, aren't you? You make me proud!

I read your post about wanting to have a baby at home. I have been to two home births. I would have done so as well if I would have had children. I thought it really made the whole thing a much more easy natural event. I have also been to two hospital births. Totally different experiences. The hospital was not a bad experience, but I don't think it would have been for me.

Don't ask me why I end up at these births because...."I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies"

Anyways, hope you are well. You sound fantastic. Have a great rest of your week.

Thanks Tina ..... I am baaaaadd!! ;)

Hey Jenn. Yep ..... a quid is slang for a pound. I have a joke to do with that actually, but you have to read it outloud to get the full effect ....

Two whales were at the bottom of the ocean, one turned to the other and said 'oh, before I forget, here's that sick squid I owe you ...'

:D :p Sorry ..... cheesy I know ;)

LOL! :D I love dorky jokes! Groaners are my favourite!

I have a cheesy one for ya too!

Two peanuts went walking down a dark deserted alley. One was a salted!:D

Hey Pineola. Yep, the more I learn about homebirths, the more I know it is for me ;)

Hey Jenn ...... love the gag .... *grooooannn!!!* :D

MRS BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!! *super fast flying sqee!*

Dude I've missed you loads! Glad to see that you've been doing well. And 22 miles in one session! That's far too cool! That snail's really getting a shake on!

Top Cat's sister's up for a water birth at home. Ever thought of a waterbirth? Could be fun!

There's a religion that Tom Cruise is part of (can't remember what it's called) but it's along the lines of us all being aliens and such. One of the things is that women are not allowed to speak or scream during child birth. When his daughter (?) was born, he had signs around his wife's/partner's room saying "Shh!" and stuff like that. Freaky...

Love the joke! Our friend calls "six quid" a poorly octopus (like sick squid!) :D Heehee!

Well done on your 5 days of binge and sugar free days! That's brilliant, go you!

*great big hugs* Sees you around!

I did something called hypnobirthing. Using hypnosis to help keep the pain of birth at bay. Well, the first time...I did pretty bad...it was back labor and my first time and ...ooowwww! The second time I did much better and it was faster and easier. I did not do home birthing as it was impossible to find anyone here who would even consider it...they thought I was nutty for doing hypnobirthing...but I think it's a great idea!

Hey Bronsk ..... once again, sooooo glad your back missus!!!! :D

I am having a waterbirth (if all goes according to plan ;) ) The independent midwives I will hopefully be using are great advocats of it, and they said that half their clients use only water as a means of pain relief .... way cool, eh ;) I am hoping to do with as little external pain relief as possible, although I know that things may turn out a lot differently to what I am planning for  You are advised to hire the pool for 4 weeks, 2 weeks either side of your due date (you actually get a discount if you do this!!), so my mum and sister are going to come around, and we are going to sit in our swimsuits in the pool and drink cocktails (virgins for me :p ). :D

Hey Spelin! I hadn't thought of hypnosis for childbirth. My mum had an operation on her knee under hypnosis once, and it worked for her. Definitely worth a look ;)

Did I miss an announcement, Mrs. B are you expecting?

I so regret not having a homebirth - my husband wanted it, and at the time, I thought it was reckless child endangerment ;)

Oh how wrong I was!

I have since really come to understand why increased medical intervention causes the need for more medical intervention.

I've assisted home births and hospital births, and I would take a home birth any day now, all things being equal!

And look at all those binge & sugar free days adding up! Go You!

Hey yes did I miss something here? All this talk about birthing babies. Are you expecting? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Since I recently had a wee bundle I will say I wish I had prepared for the experience like learned some pain control. Boy was I so unprepared. I could go into my whole experience but all I have to say is that one little medical intervention led to another which led to another and so on and so on and both me and my baby ended up in a negative situation which led to an emergency C-section. All because my water broke and I didn't go into labour for 24 hours. Then I had the induction. Need I say more.

I'm all for o natural. I had a midwife and if you want a home birth the midwives will do them but you have to be within a certain distance from a hospital otherwise they won't. I guess just in case there are complications and often they don't like for you to birth your first child at home.

Dula's are also great to have they are like a personal birthing coaches but I don't think they deliver babies but help you along with your breating and stuff.

For my next one I'm looking into some kind of something to help me deal with the pain.

:D ... no guys, I'm not expecting .... yet ;) but I have given it all a lot of thought, as I got pregnant the first time 1 year and 8 months ago, and had it all planned then. It has been 1 year and 5 months since the miscarriage now, so thats a LOT of thinking time.

Thanks for all your advice and stories of your experiences guys. I am lucky, because I am using an independent midwife, she is very keen on home births, so I don't have to fight to put my point across. Also, first time mums are actually ideal candidates for home births, because if things go wrong, they tend to go wrong slowly, so there is time to get to a hospital if need be.

Oooops!! I should really have set my binge tracker back to zero at the weekend .... I am going to have to count back and see what it should be now .... I haven't a clue about the sugar free days .... 10 or so I think ;)

Thanks for dropping by guys :)

I'll be waiting on held breath for the day that you announce you are expecting :)

Haha, the birthing pool/chilling pool sounds like a bargin! A means of pain relief, and your very own swimming pool. Feed husband plenty of beans, stick him in the middle and hey presto! instant jacuzzi :D Sorry, that was gross...

I definitely agree with cutting down the external pain relief. Like spelin said, hypnobirthing is highly recommended as well... there was an article about it (or something similar) in Healthy magazine, I'll see if I can dig it out for you.

Have a brill day!
