Hey everyone, I looked around the forums and wasn't sure where this fit the best but I wanted to share it because it's helped me a lot and maybe it could help some others. Many of you have probably come across this motivational story online. There are a few versions but this seems to be the most common.
Anyway that story helped me get through a big part of my life so I thought maybe with a bit of editing it could help me get through this battle too. Here's my version, I hope it can shed some light on some one's difficult journey.
" Jenny is the kind of girl you love to hate. She is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. She is a very fit woman with a ton of energy, but she hasn't always been this way. Jenny used to weigh almost 300lbs and rarely left her apartment.
Then one day Jenny hit ground zero, she was depressed, unhappy with her body, and lonely. She decided that it was time for a change. And change she did! Over the next few months Jenny made a huge transformation to her life. She threw away all the junk food in her home. She started walking everyday and she started reminding herself that she was a good person and she deserved a better life.
It was hard at first and slow going but each morning she woke up and said to herself; I have two choices today. I can choose to be in a good mood or I can choose to be in a bad mood. I'll choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from the situation. I'll choose to learn from it. And every time I'm tempted to abuse my body with unhealthy foods, or to skip my exercise just this once, I can choose to give in to that temptation or I can remember why I'm doing this in the first place and accept that the changes to my life are permanent lifestyle changes that will make my life better. I choose a better life.
Ultimately life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect you, and you choose how you will react to these people.
Jenny lost the wight and became a happier person thanks to her amazing attitude. The bottom line is that it's your choice how you live life, just like Jenny you can choose to live a healthy lifestyle."
I had this stuck to the wall in front of my exercise machine and one on the fridge. I just remember that this is my choice. No one else can do it for me. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. We're all human and will make mistakes but I can choose to give up or I can choose to go right back at it.
I hope that this can help someone as much as it helped me
