motivation

Anyone here struggle with motivation? I need a workout partner..My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon and I gained a little fat over the course of that which is a bit discouraging after working my butt off to get from 205 pounds down to the lean mean 155 (9% fat) that I am now...been working the last two weeks and I pretty much have the honeymoon fat back off but I lost some of the muscle I worked hard rebuilding..lost about a rep or two on my normal workouts..I am feeling a little discouraged because I am the only one I know that really takes bodybuilding seriously and I'm 22 and can't even go out with my friends for drinks because of wanting to keep it under 10% fat...I have been wanting to give up but I just cant stand to think what I will think of myself when the abs disappear..help me please!!

Have you ever wondered if you're a little hard on yourself? 155lbs is very light and 9% bf is super low.
Do you have any idea how many calories you're taking in? If you're losing strength then my guess is you're not taking in enough calories. Post your average daily diet and you'll get some good feedback from here on how to improve it.

I think you'll get a boost in motivation once you've found a level where your physical goals match up with your social ones. Denying yourself a drink with your mates is going to put a big strain on your motivation and probably result in you giving up on your training so try and find a way of incorporating your calorie intake from alcohol into your weekly calorie needs

I was only losing strength because I was TRYING to be at a defecit the last couple weeks to burn off the excess fat I gained from the indulgences I had on my honeymoon...I will return short to a maintenance level..and the strength will return..I am just a little fed up with denying myself the fun with my wife and my friends..But I love the way I am looking..I mean I am benching about 270 and only weigh 155 and my abs are pretty defined..I just can't decide whether I am going to completely dedicate myself to my training program and get down to 7% fat or whether I am going to say screw it and enjoy the indulgences..

I'd say the results are worth the sacrifice...

I have had HYOOOGE motivation problems in the past...what I did is completely commit myself for at least 2 weeks, 6 days in and 1 day out...this way I yielded results lightning fast and these results are like crack, once you see them you are hooked. This was always my problem...results...if they we're slow I would lose my will to go on...

I'm sure as hell not as fit as you are, but when you get what you want after sacrificing a few things...you get rewarded 10x over with your results.

Commitment, passion, determination and sacrifice = get anything you want.

Hope I helped you...Good luck man!

"NEVER" abandon yourself for the sake of another's opinion.

People with their hearts in the right place will attempt to give you good advice and various opinions.

Decipher them, but NEVER let them influence what YOU uniquely want within your own heart.

If you do, you will walk around dizzy as if being on a merry-go-round not knowing what to do for your own well-being and self nourishment.

Take opinions and advice and apply a "self-standard" test within your heart, and this will direct your personal path.

NEVER "abandon yourself"......for the sake of another persons advice or opinion.

IMO, diet and fitness training is personal.

Who gives a damn what people "think" you should be doing, when you are using education within diet and fitness to earn, and then maintain your goal.

I certainly do not care. My goals are my goals, and not theirs.

And, it so happens their goal is no greater than my own.

There are always someone bigger, stronger, and faster. However, I fight to be bigger, stronger, and faster, in my own personal creation. It brings inner peace and creates the greatest competition of all time. It also can produce a new improved person never before seen.

I cant remember your height, "but dependent on your hgt", 155lbs most certainly ISNT too light.

For some reason people heavier equat being light as weak. For example, I am 161lbs, I max bench over 340 lbs, can squat over 300lbs, deadlift 300lbs and "some" in the 200lb weight range and half my age cant do that.

You dont have to be big to be strong.

And, the absolute greatest strength of all time is within yourself. The greatest feats ever accomplished was by a power that could't be seen by the naked eye. It cannot be touched but can be felt.

The initial journey to get to "sub" 10% BF is the most difficult part. I know this journey.

What most dont prepare for is the second challenge once their goal is reached: Maintaining what they worked so diligently hard to earn.

Some dont realize that the information within the journey that lead them to their goal desire, is the same information that will assist them to maintain what they had earned.

Personal habits and applying education within diet and fitness had to change within the goal journey, and its no different when trying to maintain.

And, you dont have to drive yourself to the nutty farm trying to do it, young man.

Some persons tend to forget some things when attempting to change theirself in their goal plans:

1. When they were eating and not exercising, and had no education within diet and fitness........they had no personal parameters so-to-speak, and it seemed rather stress free.........Until.....one day they realize "wholly F@CK I am fat and need to lose a few pounds!"

Then the one sets on a journey and meet many forks in the road; some make it and some do not.

However, they begin to realize that some self-discipline has to be applied as well as other diet and fitness parameters in their life in order to get their human body to produce what they desire.

They were awakened, when they were sleeping before, seemingly oblivious to the truth.

Thus the stress begins.......(as compared to the stress to the alternative)

But, it doesnt have to be this way. YOU DECIDE the level of stress that is produced and how you deal with it--according to your goal, by applying diet and fitness education..........while living life to its absolute fullest.

When I set out on my goal path, I asked my self two important questions:

1. How am I going to reach my goal?

2. "When" I reach my goal, what am I going to do to maintain it?

Most do not ask themselves the second question.

When one educates theirself in number 1, they tend to learn many things, to assist themselves in number 2.

1. They realize that it doesnt take an absolute "clean" diet to maintain.

2. They should have a clear understanding on how their body reacts to calorie (and nutrient) consumption, and should know their personal parameters, and know how to react to certain environmental stimulants.

The quality and type of education earned in number 1 is the determining factor on how well one maintains, not to mention how much of the things applied became "secondary habits" within the journey.

The answer is RIGHT HERE in number 2.

This is one reason I "became" so hungry in wanting to learn about diet and nutrition. I knew then as I know now, that diet and nutrition is the group that will assist me in maintaining and earning my goal, not to mention being a "stress reliever" as I live life, because as I live life, I view what I eat and what I do with: "educated eyes".

And, therefore one can:

1. Adapt and overcome on the fly
2. Mentally or (in writing) prepare a diet plan to maintain while living life in a way that makes one happy..to the point it becomes "secondary in nature" as the efforts applied during the original journey.......Come on its right here, young man.

Let me give you an example. For two months (from the end of March to the end of June I was maintaining). I KNOW my aging body so well I can eat at Maintenance (which are never the same) for say 5 days, and then eat over for the next two days, never gain an ounce, and stay "old" :))) and ripped as ever. I do not have to write anything down, I "know" the approximation of the food I am consuming, because I EDUCATED myself--with what I DO in life.

Why? Because the education within the original journey is so "engrained" in my life style, I can do it without thinking, because I dont have to "guess" on how my body is going to "react" to the calories (and food) I consume. Not to mention I know my personal lifestyle and its associated drawbacks.

What does this aformentioned paragraph saying to you?

I want you to THINK.......what can you do? You have the answer.....you already did it.......NOW WHAT IS IT?!

Currently, I have a "mini" goal. I have incorporated a low-carb diet, with higher protein and fat ratios, while lowering the volume on the sets used, while increasing the amount of weight used. I do this "especially" at the beginning because my body "hates it" when I go low-carb (and man does it tell me, but there is room for only one B@STARD: me), because after my body makes an adjustment (usually about 3 days), I then enter a brief period of pure friggen hell, which usually lasts about 4 days. My energy can be low, I get light headed and dizzy. So, I change my routine just a tad, until its over, and then WHAM........I strike back with a vengeance once the body makes the protein (and ketones) switch, and energy comes back, and Chillen is normal again (if there is such a thing, :)).

And, when I am done, I am going to make a forum thread: showing what this 161 pound old man is made of.

I know I am an old wind bag.....but what "really" am I trying to tell you?

Have you ever considered the fact that you could live your life, have your alcohol, eat over once in a while, and still maintain......less than 10% BF?

Yes, you can.........Develop the plan based on education, know yourself and how you react to calorie and nutrition, and then have this so engrained in your life, it becomes second nature, and you do it without thinking.......knowing you are doing it right.........thus you self prepare.....to release the stress......

Best regards,

Chillen
