Hi I'm new here
I need to lose about 5-8 percent body fat for health. My body is slow to respond to weight loss, but I know once I get a routine, that it will work it has before. My trouble is getting myself back in the healthy eating workout lifestyle. I eat rather healthy actaully: fresh and raw fruits and veggies, good fats, low carb. My problem is, I like to drink...So stopping or cutting way back on that will be totally essential for my health and wieght loss. I am stuck in my habits...but ready to make a change.
Any words of advice or encouragment or stories on how to start making these changes would be great. I am a drivin person, just developed some bad habits...Once I make a transition into a different habit I know I'll stick to it, Ugh, how do I get my actions to line up with my mind...I guess that would be my body. I've been bad to it and now it's not happy with me

Hi, and welcome to the forum :)

Have you considered calorie counting? I find it useful because I then think about everything that goes into my mouth as part of my "budget" for the day, and have to think about whether that 500 calorie tiny piece of cake, for example, is really worth over 1/4 of my daily intake. I also watch my intake and budget for treats sometimes, which could mean you don't have to give up completely (unfortunately, given how calorie rich alcohol is, you'll probably still need to cut back).

Thanks

Good idea, in a way, i know that my weight issue is totally related to the alcohol, when I quite totally and just take a walk three days a week, I drop water and fat pretty quick, so I guess my motivation for stopping drinking is related to my desire to lose weight and get healthy. Maybe I will count calories,,,then I will actaully be aware of how much I taking in, would make me more conscience about it. Thanks!

Hey Time for Change, welcome to the forum and good luck getting back into your weight loss routine! It sounds like you're going to need some support... do you have people in your life that will support you in the changes that you're trying to make?

Thanks for asking, yes, fortunatly I have people in my life that are very supportive with anything I choose to do (no sabatogers) So it's really up to me and that I continue to make healthy choices. This forum is a nice reminder for me.

Good luck, u just need motivation and once u start and get used to it , it will be a routine and u will be losing all the fat u want..

Hi time for change. Welcome

I think the calorie counting thing for even someone who drinks too much is a great idea.

Here's my recommendations:

Start a diary in the diary section and record everything that goes into your mouth, including every drink. Also record your exercise. You can write about anything in your diary but the more detailed and honest you are about your food/drinks the better for you. People are not judgemental here.

Join up at AA. I don't care if you think you aren't an alcoholic, go anyway, it will help you. Well that's what i believe anyway. I've been to other 12 step programs and i believe belonging to groups like this provides important sources of real life support.

Its very good that you actually have no trouble eating heathily. It puts you way ahead on that score. I once met a woman who told me she lost 20kg in a year from merely giving up alcohol. I guess its not that hard if you can stop drinking.

Also if you drink too much, do you have emotional issues? Are you getting any coucnelling, antidepressants or such? If you think you need it, it might be worth discusing with your doctor.

Also i am a regular on a depression site. You might like the chat room or the site itself. ITs called depressiontribe.com There are a few in the series. They are very private and secure from voyeurs. You have to be a member to read blogs and such.

But for your weight loss, stick with this place.

The chatroom in depression is nice. The chatroom on addiction tribe was prettty dead last time i looked. But you might find more preferable company there. Its up to you you can join them all. I have converted at least one Addiction tribe member to depressiontribe.

You sound pretty clear headed so you may get most of your needs met better here than there. hang on... gotta put my ducks to bed right now!
