Hi there guys...

My name is John. I am sort of new to the whole losing weight thing... Though I'm coming on here, to help myself, and help others. Losing weight has to be one of the toughest things I've ever attempted to do in my life. I'm not sure of the specifics on how to eat right, and exercise right.. But Hopefully I can learn.

I am 21 years old. I weight 362 lbs. It's horrible, I know. Quite honestly... I don't feel bad... I feel good, but I look bad, and I feel bad about how I look.

I will soon be getting a membership to the YMCA, where I'll be attending there on a daily basis. I am very serious about losing this weight.

I'm really not sure exactly what the purpose is for posting on here, but hopefully my story will help motivate others.. I will track my progress on here, and (though it sounds corny) I will prove to everyone, that I CAN DO THIS. and that I WILL DO THIS.

My Goal is to lose AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE by december. How much do you think I can lose, working and eating better, and sticking with it hard?

My plan is to do 2 hours a day on the treadmill, keeping my heart rate in the correct zone... and every other day I will lift weights.

I really am ashamed of myself, that I let myself get in this shape.. I have always been big, ever since I was little, always been big. I have seen doctors, i'm not diabetic, not borderline or anything.. which is great, and i don't want to end up that way either. I honestly, feel like I just woke up, and realized something was wrong.

Enough of the whining, Its time to take action.

If anyone has any words of advice, I would LOVE to hear them.

I think though you are in the right track, that going from nothing to 2 hours a day is gonna kill you and put you right off. Try doing weights twice a week, treadmill or other form of cardio an hour a day 3 times.
Diet is more the key to weight loss than exercise. Check your calorie intake and track what you eat on fitday.com. This is the key to weight loss, you should probably read the Sticky threads to start off with.
Being a larger person you should get great results to start off with - the bigger you are the more you can loose faster, however as you get smaller the losses get smaller (because a fat person uses more calories a day to maintain their size vs a smaller person).
Dont set yourself up to fail by doing gimmick diets or over excersise or restricting your calories too much, but you should be able to drop up to 100lb in a year without too much trouble.

Wishes offers some great advice... I'd follow it up by suggesting you read the stickied threads in On Topic, Exercise, and Nutrition.. Overdoing anything is a sure fire way of doing then stopping and never going back...

Moderation is the key.. and making it a lifestyle change, learning new habits, and new behaviors so that in December of 2018... you will still be at your goal weight...

1 percent of your body weight a week is a reasonable range to shooot for - though the closer you get to your target weight - the tougher it becomes - focus less on the scale and more on how you're feeling and wht you're seeing.

Going to the Y is how my son lost his weight. he started out going every other day for an hour. He now gets mad if he does not make it to the Y 6 days a week. He has lost 2 sizes in just a few months time. Get a workout buddy & it will be more enjoyable. Ty's friend has even gotten him into running now that he is in better shape then what he was. Good luck to you.
