Motivation.... and a change in mindset

Hi All! I just joined this forum a few days ago. I have been trying to loose weight for a long time. The most significant weight loss period of my life was when I was in high school and I was swimming (swim practice) 3 hours a day and eating nothing (or virtually nothing). I realize now I wasn't eating the right foods, just not very much of not so bad foods.

I tried the Low Carb thing and ended up in the hospital having my gal bladder removed. I have tried other diets, low cal etc. I finally tried Weight Watchers and lost about 18 lbs but have gained it all back. I know I need to loose weight but I want to eat pizza and burgers. Some of the foods I used to eat really don't taste good anymore (the really bad sugar candies) and I am eating much better than I used to but not what I need to.

I know that WW works for me (more fruits and veggies, less fat, whoda guessed!). I get hung up at work at the thought of going out for lunch, never turn it down, love the food at most places. I try to eat healthier meals at restaurants but am not a huge fan of salad so that doesn't leave very many healthy options that taste unlike cardboard.

I am going to try something new and this is where I am going to discuss it and figure it out. It is a book by Martha Beck. She teaches you how to adjust your mindset about yourself and food. I bought a new scale today, I think that will help quantitative my goals and my current status.

I am sick of :banghead: and want to be happier and healthier. I have crappy joints and creak like a 70 year old at 32. Off to a better mindset and a healthier relationship with food.

I am going to loosely follow the WW plan. Maybe go to a meeting or two. Read my MB Book and follow some of her techniques.

Thanks all and hope to learn more about all of you!!
