Greetings,
I thought that keeping a journal like this would help me, and probably many of us in the same situation, out a bit, so thanks for having something like this here.
So, it all started when I went to get a check up and a physical in September. I didn't know how much I really weighed, mainly because I didn't care, but I could tell I was definitely a bit (way) heavier than I should be. Well, the confirmation came on that day in September when I stepped on the scale and weighed in at a whopping 280 lbs. I was shocked, but not entirely because I knew that I let myself go way beyond the limit my wife set for me, which was 250 lbs.
My doctor told me that I was morbidly obese, and that word "morbidly" kind of got to me. He took my blood pressure and it was 158/98. He looked a bit worried and when I saw his face, so did I. He told me I was almost at the point where I would be diagnosed with high blood pressure and he put me on medication. I took that one time and I felt like garbage, so I called and told him I didn't like the way it made me feel, so I stopped taking it. He said that I should try to regulate it with diet and exercise. Being 33 years old, I figured that was the best bet. I am way too young to be diagnosed with any sort of health problem.
Immediately, I started to make a life style change. I started eating well and exercising, well as much as my body would allow at 280 lbs. As two months passed, I noticed some body changes and I noticed that the blood pressure began to drop and maintain. I started getting really excited and I went back to the "motivated, dedicated, ready to train" mentality that I learned while serving in the Army. Then I get a wild hair and decide that I want to try to get back in the Army, well the National Guard since I have a family now.
Now, it is January and I am down to 245 lbs. For the National Guard standard weight, I have to be, at the most, 205 lbs for my height of 6'1", or my body cannot exceed 26%. So, I hope all of you who have made it this far in a somewhat lengthy post, enjoyed this brief initial journal entry and I will continue to post on the weight loss progress.
Goal:
205lbs
Current weight:
245lbs
Thanks for reading.
