Most weight loss in a week.... share!

10 pounds. Worst week of my life. Had a bad Chicken burrito from Taco Bell and got food poisoning. Funny thing is losing that 10 pounds gave me motivation to try and lose more and since then I've lost 30 pounds.

for me its always 3,4 pounds at most...
but the strange thing is.. everybody says i've lost weight while my weight doesnt really change...
and if i go out for shopping.. i realize my pants size have gone down!! but my weight doesnt change that much..
is this normal??

yes i do recall my mum telling me something about this - she said i wouldn't lose weight straight out, but i would lose inches???

and yes, that appears to be right - my shirts are looser - but i have lost bugger all on the scales...

I lost five lbs. each week for my first 2 weeks of weight loss. I believe a lot of it was water weight, but it could just have been because I was off my butt and exercising too hehe. I try to stay under 1300 cals a day and walk at least 2 miles per day... well I walk that much and more now, but I began with 1/2 a mile - 1 mile.

i didn't weigh myself a week in, but by 2 weeks i had lost 12 lbs...so probably 6 lbs that first week. probably water weight, but it was good motivation to lose that much at first.

Id have to say 10-12 pounds but I was on a strict water fast, not really reccommended, but I had to be in a swimsuit soooo drastic measures had to come in to play!

I lost 10 lbs the first week of my diet -- water weight, never more than 3 lbs/week after that except....
I also lost 15 lbs because of a real bad bug. I didn't eat anything for like 5 days but I would drink tea, water and gatorade. I gained all but 3 lbs back the next week.

Probably about 7 lbs the week that I started my new eating plan.
Lately the most I lost was 5 lbs.

If you're losing more than 1 to 2 pounds a week, it's either water weight or lean tissue, not fat.
Weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week is the best rate - more is risky

The better way to calculate it is by a percentage of your current weight. If you are bigger and have more to lose, it is safe to lose more than 1-2lbs. a week. I could lose about 3.3lbs per week and it is only 1% of my body weight. Someone who is 400lbs could safely lose 4lbs/week, etc.

I think the most weight I've ever lost in one week was about 10lbs. and that was in high school during pre-season basketball after being 270lbs. and pretty much sedentary.

This time around the most I've lost was 4.5lbs. in my third week after a week of having maintained. However, on average I've been losing about 2-3lbs. per week, which is pretty ideal for me. :)
