Morning Workouts

Okay, I have heard that if you workout first thing in the morning, it jumps your metabolism for the day. Is this true? The next thing that I want to know, if this is true, I would like to start doing this, but I don't have a lot of time in the mornings since I am a school teacher. How long should I workout in the morning? Would 30 minutes be good?

Ooo! I don't know the answer to this one, but I would like to know because I've just started doing yoga in the morning to jump-start my mind (I tend to be waaaayyyyyy out-of-focus most of the time).

Workout in the mornings if thats what you like and if it fits your schedule. If not, than don't worry about it.

There is no significant benefit from working out in the morning compared to working out in the evening. I do generally suggest spacing your workout and your sleep time apart by at least an hour or two. I've seen some data to suggest it disrupts melatonin levels and can adversely affect ones sleep quality.

How long depends on a number of variables. I can't really give you an exact figure without knowing anything about what your doing, how your doing, intensity of that which is being done, current stats, daily deficient goal, and so on.

Whoops! I forgot-- My recruiter (who is basically the guy I get all of my weight-loss tips from) said that 30-minute workout sessions (aerobic ones, anyway) are good... Something about the heart rate being raised for thirty minutes causing the body to beging to burn fat.

Just an FYI...Your recruiter is likely an army private(or whatever other rank, doesn't matter any) straight out of high school with no background in these subjects or much knowledge in them. I would not advise you get all of your knowledge from him.

You are burning fat right now as you type. You are always burning fat. Not just when you do cardio for 30 minutes.
