morning exercise

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I can't find a better section :)

I have a problem with doing exercise in the morning. I feel sick when doing exercise in the morning, but I don't if exercising for example around 5 pm. Unfortunately gym class has been changed to 8am at college instead of around 10am. I have tried eating/not eating before exercise - only drinking before exercise - eating/drinking a lot the night before exercise etc., but it doesn't make a difference. I really am able to do exercise, just not in the morning. Is there a possible explanation for why, it really has become a problem for me since my exercise-performance in the morning is no where near my performance later on. Thank you.

How soon after waking up is this?

There are many, many possible explanations. You haven't provided anywhere near enough information. List everything you are currently ingesting (eating, drinking, taking in supplements, blah blah blah), any preexisting conditions, everything you are currently doing on a weekly basis (exercise, sports - all strenuous physical activities).

How do you expect someone to answer your question if you haven't even told us WHAT you've tried eating or drinking. And your description of your symptoms is, "I feel sick." More info please. :)

You're right, I'm sorry. What I eat before exercise is usually just bread. And I only drink water. I am not taking any supplements. The physical activities I do when not in school are limited, but I do run once in a while, and I do try to walk instead of using public transport whenever I can. Furthermore I do different kinds of sit-ups and some push-ups every 2nd day or so.

But I have been more physically active than I currently am right now, but I had the same problem. I only exercised after 3pm.

I am 1.85m tall and I weigh around 63kg, so I am not obese, rather underweight. EDIT* When I say I feel sick it's because I feel dizzy and am on the verge of puking.

Ahhh, that's a bit better.

Sounds like it might be either running on empty or a hydration issue. Here's the first thing to do: Get yourself a litre/quart of (fat free if available) chocolate milk and chug it as soon as you wake up. See if that helps.

For the long term, still need to know exactly what you are eating and drinking all week to assess whether you are dehydrated (due to several factors, not just water intake) or what.

Also, generally speaking, it sounds like your body is not used to intense exercise. I would add in some real weight training and endurance work. I realize time is an issue, but uh, I usually take at least double a full course load, and I still make time. This will be good for you in general, but also will help adapt your body to the activity so it's not freaking out.

So, try the chocolate milk thing for next time, but more info please. ^_^

If I eat or drink something before early workouts, I usually dont feel too well. Chocolate milk works great for me. Or I find that if I eat something small and wait about 15-20 minutes I am ok as well.
