More Primal by the Day

Hello, everyone! I'm Clutch (no, not my real name) and I hail from Watson, Louisiana, USA. I began my weight loss journey as a New Year resolution on Jan. 1, 2011 and I'm a success story! I've lost 65 pounds (208 pounds to 143 as of this morning), my body fat has gone down from 27.3% to 14.8% (so far!) and my BMI has dropped from 28.8 to a svelte 20.1.

I took my weight loss - check that, health gain - to heart and learned that for me the ultimate weapon in my arsenal has been education. I tried the Abs Diet from Men's Health Magazine for three months and did the Insanity workout program as well with reasonable success.

Around late March, 2011 I discovered the "silver bullet" - I went primal. I bought into the idea that the worst thing to ever happen to human beings so far as health is concerned was the advent of agriculture and the domestication of food animals. Though I live in the 21st century as much as I can I eat in a way similar to the Paleolithic man would have 10 thousand years ago and back. Meat, fish, vegetables, berries, nuts & seeds. The very foods that fueled 2 million years of evolution and the very foods we are genetically designed to eat. So far as can be discovered things like heart disease and cancer simply didn't exist before agriculture.

I mean think about it - bread, the "staff of life" is really a grass. Grass. Let that sink in. Measles, small pox and a long list of other deadly diseases came from man's close proximity to farm animals. They simply didn't exist before the domestication of animals. Basically, we did it all to ourselves and it's only gotten worse.

Anyway, enough about all that... I'm here and hoping to learn, share and have a little online forum fun!

Peace!

Really? The first human recording of smallpox was around 10,000 BC while animal domestication is suggested to have started around 9000 BC. That was the earliest but it wasn't till later that we actually 'farmed'. While I disagree with your history and your method, I agree with your success and wish you well. Welcome.
