MJ's Road To Fitness

I've made some resolutions this year to:
1. Stop drinking diet soda
2. Drink the proper amount of water (100oz for me right now) Divide you body weight by 2 and that's the ounces I hear.
3. Get off my lazy behind and work out at least 3-4 days a week Here here!
4. Stop eating out and prepare more food at home Here here!
5. Limit my couch potato time, or incorporate weights while I sit on my rump and watch the tube. Take more walks!
6. Really, really, get into a bikini by the end of summer. Here here!
7. Build strength and endurance Here here!
8. Lose weight and keep it off!
9. Get a boyfriend!! I don't feel comfortable dating while overweight. Gotta feel comfortable in my own skin to relax and have fun. My own hang up.
10. Throw my spanks in the trash!!
(similar goal for me - Stop dressing like a bag lady!)
11. Finish my annual half marathon in under 3:30 by next October. This will be my 4th one in a row! (similar/lesser goal- participate in sports league)
12. Train and finish my first triathlon.

Hi Jelly, your list struck a chord with me. I think we have a few goals in common. ;) I'm not ambitious enough to have a 1/2 marathon or triathlon on my list, but I do want to go the amateur co-ed athletic route and join a hiking club and flag football or sport league. :)

It's great you set up the BL Challenge as it's just another tool to keep me motivated. Still, I smiled when I read your list because a lot of it spoke to me. I can not wait to check these things off my list and be living the healthy life I dream of.

Thanks for stopping by! You would be surprised how a 1/2 marathon is not so scary once you do it. I usually walk about 95% of it, until I lost more weight, my knees can't take the high impact of running that distance. Start out with a 5K or something, it feels soooo good to finish one and get a finishers metal. Joining a sport league sounds fun, I've been wanting to do that also!

Glad you liked my list, it helps give me something to strive for!

HEY LADY!!! I MISS MY TIME LIKE CRAZY!!!!!! :beating:!! Although I'm being more productive than I have been in ..well...ever since I can remember...I miss you guys!!! :(

...These damn growing pains I tell you!!...Life is kicking my butt in a good way!! :)

I did get on the bike last night after you posted those stats and rode the bike for 50 mins....and 5lbs hoola hooped for 10 mins...and did 30 mins of Positive affirmation meditative yoga!...:)

Taking it one day at a time and reminding myself to BREATH!!! :) Love you teamie!! Let's kick butt this week!

Thursday Update:

I am feeling pretty strong today! I had a shot of that 5 hour energy stuff today, that is no joke!! I'm ready to conquer the world right now! LOL

I am feeling the stress cloud lift from my head and it's starting to dissipate away! I hate being taken down to the ground by life's dramas. I wish I were better at brushing it off quicker.

I am off to workout right now. Going to try to drop it like its hot this week!

Gooooooooooo Pink Team!!

I am actually sore from yesterdays workout!! OMGoodness! LOL That's a good sign, shows I pushed myself.

I ate the last of the oreos last night with my sis! Doh! Why????? I was doing so good all day, then thought, oh.... I might as well eat up those oreos and get them out of the kitchen. See how I am?? No willpower once the little boogers get into the house. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning out the fridge and kitchen yesterday, so there isn't much lingering in way of temptation. Whew! Today I will do better!

I started a new ticker for exercise, rather than weight loss, since we can only have one ticker at a time. I am going to be putting in some serious mileage on the treadmill and at the track, so that will be a fun way to track my training.

Right now I am walking/jogging at a 3.1 mile per hour pace, and I hope to get that up to a 4 mile per hour pace in the next few months. I can't wait to gain some speed!

The faster I finish my half marathon this year the better. Being out on the road for 4 hours sucks and wears me out. I'm hoping to get done in under 3:30 this time. If I can do it in 3hrs or less, that would seriously rock.

Will be back later to post more!!

well done working on ya running, but step away from the cookie jar or I will have to reach through the screen and take them off ya.

Wow, MissJellyBelly, doing 60 min on the treadmill is amazing. I suck at straight cardio myself! You'll have to change your nickname to MissFIRMBelly soon! :)

I enjoyed reading your diary and we seem to have a lot of the same challenges! Re: the depression and exercise, it's hard to tell if my improved mood is to do with the weather change or the exercise as I mostly have SADs (seasonal depression) but have to take medication year round. I'd love to get off the meds but the doctor doesn't want to do anything to my medication because I reduced it once and had very bad reactions. I'm really hoping if I can get to a good level of fitness and diet for a year or so, she'll change her mind and take me off them altogether.

It has to be a lifestyle change for good for me or else I'll wind up worse off. I can't do another round of gaining it all and losing it and then gaining it again. :(

Hi MJ; yeah ... like ... I can do 30 minutes on the treadmill. lol GOOD FOR YOU. Geez, I didn't know you also suffer from depression, I have for years. Man, dp SUCKS! Just this week I had to be careful because if I don't eat enough protein dispersed throughout the day, I can have a really bad emotional reaction on account I have hypoglycemia. Exercise, enough sleep, eating protein and zero sugar, and jogging helps me to stay on top in my mind. But it's a lot of work to coordinate all of that, every day. A lot of work and it's taken me YEARS to realize it's not a good idea ... it's imperative for my mental health.

I hope you have a good weekend and I'm inspired by you to get my jogs up to 60 minutes. Girl, that's fantastic!!

I am going to beat my winter blues with the treadmill, I've decided!! I feel tons better already. I hope to get my belly flat this summer!!

Hey 2Skinny!! I am trying to get one up my winter blues with exercise, as it seems to help. I think my depression could be self induced by lack of exercise and poor diet. When I am on my game I feel better, so that is what I must do!

I am going to try to build up to 2 hours on the treadmill in the next few months! Yikes!! Gotta do it to prepare for the half marathon tho, as I am usually out there 4 hours straight.

Saturday update:

Woke up feeling great this morning! My body wants to get back on the treadmill but I don't!! I better listen to it. LOL

I am enjoying adding up my mileage on my ticker. My mind is thinking about exercise in a whole new way. I am trying to travel a further distance in my hour of treadmill each time.

I went from 3.1 mph on Thursday to 3.5 mph on Friday!!

I wonder what I will do today. Speaking of which, I am going to get on the treadmill here in a bit and bust it out!

Looking to buy a used bike online today so I can start training for my triathlon in September.

I'll be back later to update.

I agree that length of cardio is hard for me too. I did my hour on the elliptical and it's pure torture! LOL... However, having said that, I definitely feel AWESOME after it's done :D

I think eating right and getting your exercise in will help a lot and it will make you happy and feel better! I know the more exercise I do, even though I hate doing it, I feel so good after and have been feeling good overall lately now that I'm actually doing something about my weight again!

Hear, Hear, Sista! I agree. Feels so good to be in control for me, instead of feeling out of control. I feel stronger already!!
