Hello everyone I am new to this forum and just want to start out by saying im glad to see there are a lot of other people out there like me who are going through the same problems as I am and trying to lose weight. I need something like this just to help keep me on track. I have been going to the gym for quite some time and ive lost a lot of weight as well as gained it back so I know what to do its just a matter of sticking to a plan. On a positive note I have gained a lot of muscle from years of lifting weights and I will continue to push myself to do that (which is the easy part for me) but the hard part is dropping the fat. Since I have quit smoking (about 6 months) I have found that I want to eat a lot more food and I am hungry more often which isnt a good remedy. Anyways I am working on cutting back on how much food I eat and what to eat that is healthy. I became a vegetarian 2 months ago so I no longer eat meat and my source for protein is usually a protein shake after comming back from the gym. Its not going to be easy but Im just going to set a goal for myself right now.

Current weight-227 pounds

goal weight-190

an update on my progress

For a while there I kind of lost track, but I have got myself going again and never been in better shape. I have been going to the gym every single day no excuses for the past few weeks. I let myself get up to 220 pounds and i am only 5'6. I found my excuse before was I work a lot so I don't have any time to goto the gym or im too tired to go when im done working. Keyword is EXCUSES. So what I do is when im at work spend half of my lunch eating and half of my lunch at the gym. My break is an hour so il go about 15 mins eating and 45 mins of a hard workout then back to work after. On my days off of work an intense 1 hour workout is still all I really need. Anyways I am really happy with myself I weighed 220 before and now I weight 201 pounds which is a 19 pound loss so far and only been going for 3 weeks. I am also hitting the weights harder then I ever have before. As far as dieting goes I just eat whatever I feel like within moderation. With the acception of giving up junk food like potatoe chips, choclate, ice cream. I still drink beer a lot and my weakness is I smoke a lot of pot so sometimes I get really hungry.

hewwo ^_^

First off, congrats on quiting smoking, it's much harder that people think.

you've got the right idea, just try substituting some of the high calorie foods, for something a little more nutritious.

we can display this concept in a simple formula !

( BAD ) bag of potato chips = * glare *

( BETTER ) Serving of low-fat yogurt = * high five *

( BEST ) 2 rice cakes with peanut butter = * hug *

This probably doesn't help at all but some people benefit from just seeing stuff like this ( such as myself )

not all the food you eat has to taste bland, you just have to find some of the healthy foods you like and combine them with something fill/healthy.

thanks for posting, can't wait to read more ! =)

one year later

Wow I havent been here for a while. I can't believe I was at 227 thats huge! It's pretty awesome to see my goal weight was 190 and I have finally reached that even though its 1 year later. As I work out I keep gaining muscle but my problem is I am gaining, losing, gaining losing because I have to switch between cardio and weight lifting. I find ive been getting more results with weight lifting lately. Also gave up the drinking and smoking pot all the time to get more serious about my health. Since my old goal weight was 190 and im at that im going to set a new goal for 170. Yeah thats not very much for a guy but im really short only 5'6 so keep that in mind. I have a plan set for how im going to make 170. It's time to take my cardio workouts to the next level and go harder at that since ive already had huge gains in muscle and less results in fat burning. My new routine is gonna be 2 days a week of intense weight lifting, 4 days of cardio in between and 1 day to rest. I will also spend 1.5 hours at the gym instead of my old run like crazy routine of 45 min workouts between my job. I started to eat meat again recently but im only going to eat lean chicken breast, fish, or beef on the 2 days of my weight lifting routine. So the other 4 days I spend on cardio and my 1 day of rest will only be vegetarian meals.
