Yes, I've been doing it for quite a while. I took weight training at my high school last year. I was able to bench 110 lbs as my maximum. Not quite my body weight, but still good. After this summer, I've become weak again. I'm taking weight training in college. It's so much cheaper than a gym membership. Just 60 dollars for a 3 day a week class that lasts 18 weeks. Next semester, I'm going to take two courses so I can have a full week of the class.

The reason I brought this up was because I got a lot of negative attention from the guys in my high school class. I got tormented, harassed and verbally abused. I'm guessing it was because I was female. The guys at the college seem pretty nice though. They actually seem pretty interested in me. I catch a lot of them staring while I work out.

Spicypumpkin, life is a tradgedy if you feel and a comedy if you think.

Tormented, harassed, and abused are strong words. Can you imagine yourself, at your strongest, taking action against the wrongs what occured, other than a lecture? If not, you are either thinking to small, or are embellishing far too much.

The boys in your high school teased you because they were ignorant, small, probably small and weak, probably intimidated, and probably scared. They were children. What happened is in the past, the best you can do is become everything they were not. Being interested in opinions is one thing...being interested in approval is another.

Wow.....
Dang that sucks, can't say it's anything like that at my school.

But I'm having a really hard time imagining how or why anyone would do that

I'd suggest picking up a copy of The New Rules of Lifting, by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove then. The book is pitched to men but the information they present applies to men and women. The workouts are butt kickers too, but great at producing results.

I don't think I was looking for approval, just an explanation as to why they were that way. I don't think the words I used were too strong. I had to report two of the guys to the office because the harassment was continuing outside of class. So, yes, I did take action. I was just wondering how many guys actually think that way.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I will take it wholeheartedly.

Well, there are probably many insecure, immature teenage boys who have a problem with it. For that matter, I'm sure there are many insecure, immature, "adult" men who have a problem with it.

The issue is with them, not you. Sure, most men aren't exactly attracted to a woman who can bench press a pickup truck (and looks the part), but few are turned off by a fit woman with some curves to her arms.

You are the Queen!

I think nobody has any business telling women not to lift. And yeah, if they roid up and get giant its not really attractive, but that doesnt mean they shouldn't bulk up. I say more power to em.

LMAO

It took me a good 5 minutes to work out what 3 letter F word could cause such offense, I'm such a dumb-ass

:yelrotflmao:

I wish I could gain muscle to an extent a bit greater than most pop stars and the like. I don't want svelte lean muscle that lets me carry 3x what I can carry now. I want to carry at least what my slack male friends can carry, preferably more. Unfortunately, even if I were male, I'd probably have two sets - scrawny to plump. I gotta admit, I thought what's-her-face from Terminator 2 had the perfect figure... But that took hours of personal training from Arnold Swartzennegar himself.

*sigh*

i realize that it's soooo cliche to ask but i'm gonna do it anyway:

what do you guys think of madonna's arms and body? she obviously looks strong and is in great shape but is she too bulky for your taste?

I'm not a guy, and I'm not into girls, but, that's the kind of body I want. I hope it isn't unattractive to too many guys. I know I'm cutting down my datability factor by a little by going for an athletic build, but I wouldn't want the kind of guy who would be repulsed by it anyway.

I want a guy that thinks a fit girl is unbelievably sexy! ;)

I've met many. But they were all teenagers. Their immaturity could be why they feel that way.

you've GOT to be kidding me. where the heck do u live? maybe those teens thought u meant female bodybuilders. who wouldn't want a fit girl? now if the question is female BODYBUILDERS that's just nasty

EDIT: i prefer girls that aren't ripped. madonna's arms are too masculine for me. i don't like seeing that much definition on a girl, but that's just me. now lemme get outta here cuz i'm only 16 and probably sound like a perv (i'm not!)

are you KIDDING ME? all these years and you still haven't figured out that guys at this age make fun of girls or bother them a lot because they like that girl? i bet you a gazillion dollars that at least half of the guys that made fun of u had a little crush on you.

She looks great in my opinion - how many gals in their 40's have a body like that? Not many at all. Lots of hard work went into it.

I like girls who are fit and healthy, but not body builders even Madonna's toned muscles I don't like but thats just my personal preference, to each his own.
