There is certainly no reason for you to pay to join a program. It is all here for free - and the fact that I have lost 12 stone kind of confirms that.
You do not mention your age - but I am 50 and some would think that my age would be against me.
Many people lose weight by limiting what they eat too much and thinking of themselves as being "on a diet". The fact is that we need a lifestyle change - or the exact same thing that made you gain the weight in the first place will kick in and make it happen again as soon as you come "off the diet" and get back to business as usual.
The good news is that many people got used to rediculous notions on weight loss that have been all too prevalent over the years. Before I started coming to the forum I sincerely believed that women had to limit themselves to something like 1,000 or 1,200 calories a day to lose weight. I would try to do it for a while - feel deprived - and eventually abandon the diet going back to my previous lifestyle and putting on every pound lost plus often a few more as well.
What is needed is to increase your exercise levels. This need not be at a particularly difficult level. I started walking every day. As I got fitter I started trying other forms of exercise too - in order to find what things I enjoyed.
You need to read up on nutrition and deduce a healthy level of calories that will give you weight loss. Also become aware of how different nutrients can help your weight control. There is a great section on nutrition on this forum - pay extra attention to the sticky threads.
Get a free account from which is very useful. Set up your profile information and log both your exercise and food. It will not only calculate your calories but also produce a calorie balance report which shows you the calorie deficit which should give you the weight loss. It also breaks down your food into the nutritional components so that you can optimise your diet for not only good health but also for an enhanced level of weight loss. All the information is freely available on this forum regarding how this can be done.
The calorie level is such that you can really fill up on healthy food and therefore not feel deprived. This means that when you get to goal weight you are not desperate to eat as you did before. This means that the weight loss is easier to maintain. I am at goal weight now - but continue to eat very healthily. I simply exercise a little less and eat in a slightly more relaxed manner compared to when I was losing weight.
