medifast

Why do you want to do Medifast? Have you tried a proper diet of counting calories and watching your nutrient levels and exercising?

I actually do not think that these diets whereby you do not eat normal food solve many people's problems. They do not teach people real lessons about how to eat properly.

I have known people do other diets involving shakes etc and they often put on all the weight lost as they start eating more normally again.

I cannot see why anyone would want to eat in such an obscure manner when the forum is full of people who have lost a lot of weight while eating a well balanced diet comprised of normal food.

Why dont you read the nutrition and exercise sections instead and follow the advice that you find there? You clearly do not know too much about medifast or you would not be asking such general questions about it.

I am a former MFer. Unfortunately, I have other money priorites at this time and can not continue. MF works! I now see food as a fuel source and not something to enjoy. I have always been overweight and that's a new perspective I've had to adopt. I will never be able to eat normal. I have lost 46 pounds becuase of MF and now that I am off it and eating properly, I'm still losing. If you can afford $300.00 a month, it's a great solution to obesity. It has all the nutrition you need. No more, no less. In the end, you do have to maintain with exercise and healthy eating. That goes with ANY health program! No matter how you lose it, you need to exercise and eat healthy to keep it off.

Great choice if you decide to follow through.

P.S. you lose a AVERAGE of 2 pounds a week if you are a woman.

Sorry, but that's just BS. Almost everyone can eat normally unless they have a serious medical condition that prevents them from doing so or they have had weight loss surgery that has altered their digestive systems.

Which is what you lose if you just eat a healthy and reasonable diet w/out payin $300 a month for meal replacements.

I think that is kind of sad.

Taste is one of our five senses - alongside sight, hearing, touch and smell.

To say that you no longer enjoy food says that you no longer get any pleasure from the sense of taste.

I am happy to say that alongside the vast majority of people on this planet - I can still enjoy eating nice things.

Oh - and I agree with Kara's comment about how most overweight people expect to lose something in the region of 2 pounds a week from simply eating healthily. I was bigger at first so I lost more...

Let's see, it's the only thing that worked after 17 years,

I lost 43 pounds in 4 months; 4 sizes

my outlook on food took a 360 degree turn. If you do not see food as a source of energy, you're going to turn to it for comfort or recreation where we are just shoveling it into our mouths without consideration for what we are doing to ourselves and being ungrateful for what God (or whatever higher power you believe in) has given us to maintain our bodies. it has also helped me think of the unfortunate who wish they had a crumb of the extra stuff I used to eat.

I now hate the site of greasy/heavy food

It costs just as much as eating healthy and going out to eat. Protein shakes, vitamins and organic foods are not cheap.

My body lost 2 pounds a week no matter what; that never happened with calorie counting and exercise (the first month I lost 19 pounds getting rid of all the bad stuff in my system)

I'm pumped and motivated, love life, I like myself, encourage my family to eat healthy.

it's a way to get to your goal quickly and then maintain with healthy food and exercise.

Yes, you can go another route, but it's going to take a long time. As for me, I never got there until I used MF. If it had not been for MF, I would never be where I'm at right now.

Maybe calorie counting works for some, but it doesn't for everybody. I'm just saying, it helped me turn my life around. No one person is the same. What works for you, will not work for everyone. The same goes for Medifast but it's worth a try for those who have tried everything and didn't work.

They asked if it worked and I told them the truth. How can you say it doesn't work if you never tried it?

It's nutrition conveniently packaged, how you can argue with that is beyond me. I always dreamed and wondered why there was not just a liquid nutrition that I could take so that I was not always second guessing myself on if I was eating the right amountof protein, carbs and fats. I never knew about MF.

so to the initiator of this thread, I'll I have to say is it worked for me.

Good Luck in the future!

If you don't want to try MF, pick up a book called Body for Life by Bill Phillips. He helps you with what the right carbs, fats, portions, proteins are. the exercise program is awesome also.

i lost 30 pounds in 3 montHs. But just like everything else, you ave to a adopt a healthy lifestyle or THE WEIGHT WILL COME BACK ON!

Well, I'm a newbie here, but I'll jump in on this one. I used MediFast for a short time after I saw I was regaining 40 lbs I had lost by eating healthier foods... I stopped as soon as I broke out in hives. So a word of caution, MediFast is very soy laden. Even if you've never had soy allergies before, you'll want to stop using it if you exhibit signs of a reaction. Food allergies can be fatal.

Food for thought if you plan on overburdening your body with one particular type of vegetable protein to meet the majority of your protein needs.

I started on Medifast recently after trying all sorts of diets. I've had a weight problem all my life. I'm losing weight quickly and my coach is assisting in answering questions and providing motivation. Just like any program, the most important factor in losing weight is attitude. If you're ready to do it, that'll make the biggest difference. The benefit I've found with Medifast so far is the simplicity of it. I eat the meal replacements all day at work (very busy schedule), then have a lean and green meal with my family at night. My husband is even losing a little bit of weight due to our lean and green evening meals. So far, so good for me.

By the way, this site is great. It's nice reading the thoughts of others going through what I'm going through. I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to jump in.

Good luck!
