McDonalds, or nothing at all?

i cant stand maccy d's as they call it here in the uk. i reckon ive eaten there fod twice in ten years if that and i was probally drunk at the time. much rather go to the supermarket and buy sum meats from the deli and some nice fresh bread and salads and pickles and have something healthy and substantial. the last time i ate a burger from there i felt physically sick from the overbearing taste of sugar in the bun and sauce and the salt in the burger and cheese

I don't think you can say that Super Size Me would be a bad documentary. It may not be like an ideal scientific break down, but it documents his experience over the 30 day period. Though I wouldn't swear by that thing on any level. :) Why do you consider that a bad one?

You need to see the movie Super Size Me. That will answer all of your questions about ever eating at McDonalds! If you are starving and can't find any other option then get a salad but there are very few things I would eat from that place. It is your choice in the end and yes there is probably some stuff there that "tastes good" but that doesn't mean it's good for you! :)

Please. Did it ever occur to you that the person asking isn't someone who spends time doing dance areobics and pilates?

To answer the original poster, yeah, something is better than nothing. Indeed, it's the least of two evils, but you can take it farther than that. Next time, just order your burger with no mayo/sauce...and it's not really all THAT bad. Personally, I eat maybe three or four burgers a month, but I order with three extra patties, no sauce, and no cheese...of course, I'm not at McDonalds.

Did it ever occur to you that the folks responding to his post dont do dance aerobics and pilates either? We're talking about eating something very unhealthy versus waiting until you can get something else. We're not talking about being stranded on an island with nothing but a McDonalds around LOL. Like i said before, drink water until you can get somewhere else.

Most fast food places use "grade D" beef and if you know anything about the FDA and food processing you do not want to eat this stuff. Its not just about calories and fat content, but about the quality of stuff you are putting in your body. Even if you have a fast/high metabolism, that doesnt change the fact that you are basicallly metabolizing crap. Each hamburger contains beef from over 20 different cows...in one burger!!

Correct, using "Supersize Me" as a reference on how to live your life is ****ing stupid. No ****, if you're going to eat that stuff everyday with completely no exercise, you're going to be unhealthy.

When you use it as a tool to give people advice, it's even worse. Think about the context -- the person asking for advice is;

1.) Exercising on a regular basis
2.) Not eating this on a regular basis (ie, 90 meals)
and
3.) Not a ****ing dumbass

How does any of this corelate to "Supersize Me"? How is eating a "salad" any better, if it's going to be drowned in dressing? If anyone is "starving," a salad is next to the most useless thing they could eat, period.

if your going to get mcdonalds, its best to just get a regular hamburger. not that many cals, and i think most carb come from bread.

Read Fast Food Nation. Supersize Me is just Hollywood.

I am well aware of Eric Schlosser's book, but the point is not whether fast food is good or bad. The issue at hand is whether or not eating a fatty, unhealthy, albeit evil, as Schlosser describes, is better than going hungry. In terms of a weightlifter or bodybuilder, the answer is to go with the burger.

You wont lose that much muscle if you wait an hour or so to get to some better food...and drink water!! Really, this is not that difficult.

Not difficult yes, but just plain horrible given the alternative? Might as well wash it down with a 6 pack of beer as well.

Packing is effective, but from the sounds of it he doesn't have a lot of control over the grocery purchases or where to eat at... I pack up all day right now to deathly avoid fast food(holy **** that is so hard right now for some reason) but this requires going to grocery store pre-planned(doesn't fit me at all), pre-planned food for the week(hah, my schedule fluctuates a hellalot), and then actually getting to prepping the food on one day.
