a friend sent me a link to a forum that was discussing metabolism and on it someone posted some info about soy not being all its cracked up to be which was news to me! so i did some digging on google and found this:

now i'm a bit worried as it wasnt the only link i saw. i found several discussing the link between soy and thyroid problems. at this point i'm not sure what to believe but it worries me as i eat those fake burgers containing soy protein EVERY single day!

Take everything in moderation and you'll be fine. If they're trying to tell you that soybeans will kill you, thats garbage. Smoking, will kill you. Crack rocks, will kill you. Soybeans, will not kill you lol.

There are so many conflicting messages out there, you don't know who to trust!

My motto is take everything in moderation, and use more of natural foods then processed, and listen to your body, and everything will be ok.

There's so much conflicting research on everything! It can be pretty confusing. Someone can do research and basically slant the results to prove almost anything.
I wouldn't worry about eating the soy burgers. :) In reality that's a small amount of soy and you probably eat loads of other nutritious foods.

HOLY SMOKES WW! No wonder you worry! I agree with the "everything in moderation" idea, also. I mean, if it were your ONLY source of protein and you ate LOTS every day then, yes, I'd worry, but if you get other sources of low fat protein and eat other healthy foods throughout the day then I see no reason to give it up. One or two burgers a day isn't enough to do anything. So keep eatin' 'em and ENJOY them! (just don't LIVE ON THEM!!! LOL)

Moderation is always best. You can make a "scientific" study say anything you want ONCE. We'll have to wait and see if the results are replicated and go from there. I once heard that an excess of absolutely anything will kill you, and it's true, think about it, even drinking too much water will upset the electrolyte balance in your system and is frequently fatal. The question is always "how much is too much?". If your diet is varied, and to be healthy I'm sure it is, you're probably not getting "too much" of any one thing. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to look out for more info on this now!:)
