Maverick's Diary: Honor, Courage, Commitment

:waving: Hi, Maverick!

Just wanted to stop in and encourage you on your journey - great job so far! Love your dedication and your reason for seeking a greater level of fitness. I think you will make America proud! :patriot: Heck, I'm a Canuck, and I'm already proud of ya!

Keep up the great work - I feel your push up pain, sister!

Cheers
ABBA

ohhhhh good southern dinners are the death of me, especially if they include fried okra (I can eat that stuff like popcorn) and banana pudding lol

kudos to you for handling the dinner :)

I decided I'm gonna start marking down the amount of water I drink as well as other beverages, to make sure I'm drinking as much as I think I am.

Breakfast:
- light vanilla yogurt (3 oz.)
- turkey sandwich (2 pieces whole grain bread, 2 slices turkey)
- 20 oz. water

And those leftover pork chops are mocking me from the fridge. I might go ahead and toss them out. Ten bucks says nobody even notices.

Throw them away! Once they're gone you won't be thinking about them anymore.

Good job on avoiding cheesy rice and salt!

(didnt know if you would see this in the other thread and I cant PM yet, so I thought I'd repost it here....hope you dont mind)

Maverick, the making the meat a side dish thing is a FANTASTIC idea......I never heard of that before....very clever

Lunch:
- Weight Watchers Smart Ones Pepperoni Pizza
- 1 cup Special K (w/ milk)
- 20 oz. water

Went and bought all my school books, finally. I'm so ready to be out of university, it's ridiculous. Doesn't help that my sailor brother calls all the time, talking about how he's surfing this weekend or going up to Big Bear to go snowboarding that weekend.

I can't WAIT to go into the Navy. It's definitely incentive to work my butt off.

And speaking of butts, mine looked smaller this morning. My back looked MUCH longer, and my hips looked more narrow. Nice!

Congratulations on losing ten pounds. A significant amount of weight and that's just wonderful that you can see the results in your physique.

By the way, I liked what you wrote in the Fear of Thin thread.

Just wanted to stop by and say HI :)

oh and your porkchops called me, they were begging me to come and save them....I..."just said no" :willy_nilly:

Hey Mav!

Glad to hear things are starting 'shape up' in terms of your physique. Can't beat that!

Yesterday I took my cheat night AND no gym night on the same day. Which means I have to work my butt off today. Oh well. I don't care. Chili night is my favorite! :D

Dinner (1/14):
- bowl of chili (w/ Cheddar)
- 2 hot dogs (w/ bun)
- 10 crackers
- 4 Hersey's mini dark chocolate bars (*gasp* Kills me to write that down here...I've been bad, bad, bad....)

Exercise:
- flutter kicks (commercials - 10-15 min. appx.)
- 10 push-ups

Breakfast (1/15)
- 1 cup of Special K cereal w/ milk and 2 pinches of sugar

Today is a double gym day, because not only am I going to go this morning for weights and my regular routine, I have to go tonight during the busiest time of the day (5:30-6:30) with my mom. Ugh. I don't like to go to the gym during the after-work gym rat rush, because it's hard to get machines or treadmills. So I'm going to try and get the majority of my work done this morning.

Last time my mom came to the gym, she took so long getting back from work and getting dressed in the locker room that she didn't even have a treadmill left to work on when she got out. So I had to give mine up to her in the middle of a run. (Well, I didn't have to, but that was just the polite thing to do.) I just don't understand what took her so long - she works across the street from my university, and we get out at the same time.

I don't like it, because it gives her an excuse when she gets there too late to get anything good during the rush, but she won't go after dinner when it's a little less crowded, so I guess I'm stuck going when she wants to go. At least to be supportive. I think she's just really self-conscious about her weight, and it isn't helped by the amount of people there.

No biggie, though. I just gotta go this morning before class and make sure I get done what I need to, so if it's too busy tonight, I won't feel cheated if I can't get the machines I want.

Shani: Threw those things out yesterday. My family is terrible about putting up leftovers and letting them rot in the fridge. I don't know why they bother - hardly anyone EVER eats leftovers around this place...:D

Happy: Thanks for the support, and for stopping by!

Steve: I'm actually happier about my emerging body shape than I am about the amount of weight I've lost so far. I am going to have some KILLER curves when this is all over.

That's a good place to be, mentally. :)

Happy for you.

I had Guthrie's last night. (Horrible, I know.) Not my idea, but I went along with it. French fries, chicken fingers, the works. Afterwards I was so disappointed with myself, but at the same time, it satisfied a craving I've had for about 4 weeks now. I guess I should just use it to my advantage and not repeat the mistake.

Lunch:
- 2 Chick Fil A Chargrilled chiken sandwiches (just chicken and bread)

Dinner:
- 5 chicken fingers
- small serving french fries
- sauce (I have no idea what's in it...)
- bite of turkey and dumplings my grandmother sent over

Exercise yesterday:
- 45 min. Treadclimber (3.7 mph/3.0 @ rest) - appx. 600 calories
- push-ups
- weights: shoulders, arms, and torso machines; dips
- 15 min. treadmill (3.0 mph, warm-up)

So woke up expecting to see punishment on the scale, and what do I know, but 174.5 is glaring up at me! I'm down 2.5 lbs, and I've hit my lowest scale weight to date since I started working out and eating right. For some reason, I think the dose of "unhealthy" food broke me through a metabolic wall...

In any case, it's encouraging. So I'm going to do my best to make sure that number *keeps* going down.

I thought it might be something like that, or a combination of the extra calories + a physical fitness upgrade. (Started using the Treadclimber at 3.7 mph, instead of 3.5, and really pushed myself on weights.)

It really reminds me of the last time I lost weight (for the Air Force Academy). I would eat healthy all week long, work my butt off at the gym (with no change) then I would eat a cheat meal and voila! There would be my weight loss for the week.

It's weird how metabolisms work...

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention - I also signed up to meet with a personal trainer on the 23rd to set me up on the Fitlinxx fitness program, which allows me to electronically record my progress in weights training through the machines, and keep me on track as to what weight machines I should focus on.

Just checking up on you - because I havent seen you around for ages.

I hope that everything is ok for you.

Take care
Love
Margaret
