Massive Daily Weight Fluctuation

This has been a big problem of mine for a while because my weight fluctuates a tremendous amount during the day. Yesterday was a prime example of this. I have a new, electronic scale and I don't think it's the scale at fault.

9:30am: 158.2lbs
7:15pm: 170.4lbs

12.2lb fluctuation throughout the day. What is going on here? What is my actual weight?

My initial thought is that it may well indeed be the scale. I don't trust home scales, and weigh myself using the balance scale at my doctor's office.

I found, using an electronic scale at home, that I would get a different weight depending on where I moved the scale. I also could step on it 5 times and get 3 different weights.

Another possibility is that you are gaining/shedding a lot of water weight during the day? I don't know what your diet and activity levels are like, so I really can't say. That's one for the experts.

What is your actual weight? I'd say go check it on a balance scale. Or, on your electronic scale, weigh yourself 5-10 times each time you use it and see what kind of results you are getting. If your results are stable then maybe the scale is OK.

It is because of fluctuations like that (and also because I don't want to be a slave to the scale, and worry about every ounce gained or lost during the day) that I only weigh myself once a week.

I have this problem too. From about 5-15 lbs It doesn't seem to do it as often as it used to. AND I've tried different scales, other ppl's, sometimes it's kinda fun to watch, if I were to check it every 3-4 hours when it goes from 160-158-155-153-150....haha, I am guessing water weight too, usually when I have stuffed myself with a big meal.

I find it depressing to weigh myself everyday, but now I have a scale, and I usually cross it's path a few times a day, so I just step on it, I guess I could put it out of reach.
