Trops, Thanks for the tip, buddy. I think you may have helped me pinpoint one area where I went wrong with drinking habits. When I started dieting, I starting drinking light beer. I went back to drinking a few of my locally brewed favorites a few days ago and you're right; my stomach told me when to stop and it was only after a few beers. I've done a lot better with the drinking over the past week, so I am optimistic. I'll continue to make changes and will definitely consider taking a weekend fast from alcohol.
This week I've definitely made some dieting errors, but nothing unforgivable. I say that because I've eaten out a few times, but I was pretty impressed with myself in using the portion control that lean cuisine has taught me, but with real food. I've even left food on my plate a few times.
Workouts have been a bit lopsided. My resistance workouts have been a struggle this week. I seem to be getting fatigued faster even with the same weight and reps. My last resistance workout, I decided to back off a little on the weight and kind of work up to where I was last week to get out of this rut. I may even take a week off from resistance because I'm feeling a little sore from even using lower weights [maybe my body needs a break?]
Oddly enough, my cardio workouts have been great. I've had to up the resistance on the elliptical and keep up at a faster pace to get my heart rate to the same rate it was at lower resistance a week ago. Today's cardio was by far the best I've ever done. I felt like a million bucks at 39 minutes in and almost didn't want to quit because I was getting such a rush. I could literally wring out my t-shirt it was so soaked in sweat afterwards. Gross, but strangely satisfying.
Being back in the office, I've had to put on my dress clothes and now none of them fit. My pants are all huge [they used to be far too tight in the waist] and only stay on because I use a belt and then they bunch all up at the waist. My shirts look way too big, too. I know those are good things, but I'm a little bit annoyed I spent so much money on a business wardrobe over the past few years that essentially has gone to waste. [Trust me, I'm not really that annoyed]. I'm thinking about getting rid of a lot of the fat clothes from the past soon, but having nothing to replace them with yet, I may have no choice but to hold on to them for a while longer.
I'm interested to see if I've lost anything this week. Two more days to weigh in and I've honestly not stepped on the scale once. This week is a little bit different in my expectations for the scale. Like Trops said, this might be a point he would take maintenance for a while and I feel a little the same. I'm purposely not really keeping up with my diet calorie for calorie to see how well I can judge my diet in a more sustainable fashion.
