Mana's Diner

I have a real problem with that! I make a "normal serving" of food, but I also graze while I am cooking. Do you think that could be what you're doing? Are you adding in little snacks while you prepare the food? If so, are you at least snacking on the veggies, instead of the bad stuff? :p

Qjay
I don't graze while I cook, nor do I do taste tests, I've been cooking too long, I can usually tell what something needs by just smelling.
No, I'm not snacking on veggies. I'm doing 70-80% fat 20-30% protein and around 1-3% of incidental carbs from dairy/eggs usually.

I wonder if it is because of the fat content, then. I understand the stomach's sensors that tell us when we're full are most easily satisfied with fatty foods, so the "full" light could be getting turned on much earlier than you are used to. At least it's a thought ;)

Your diet sounds like fun if there are no unpleasant side effects, are you having any GI troubles from it?

Nope, no GI troubles at all, in fact my IBS is finally completely gone!! It's wonderful!! Oh, it's definately because of the fat. I can tell on the days when I only get about 60-70% calories from fat are the days I tend to eat more.

So I was so completely full from supper last night, that I wasn't hungry until lunch today, so this morning all I had was a cup of coffee with cream and a piece of bacon. Lunch I went out with my best friend and jumped off my wagon for a bit with beef nachos & a beef chimichanga for lunch and M&M's at the movies. That was clear back around 11:30 and I'm still completely full, so I doubt I'll be having any supper tonight. I got in around 1100 cals. And guessing on percentages but it looks like 50.7% fat, 15.3% protein, 34% carbs (blech) and boy did my stomach ache after lunch, it was awful, no more flour products for me!

So, I gained a couple lbs from my little episode on Saturday. Went back on the wagon yesterday, and a half a lb is off this morning, I figure the rest will fall off in a day or two. I was thinking that eating like that was such a treat, but in reality after I ate it I was so miserable, that I don't think I'll "treat" myself like that again!

Once again this morning, I am sooo not hungry. So I'm having a cuppa joe with cream (not because I'm sleepy, just 'cuz I like coffee) and then I'm probably going to go work out. My family and I went for a walk yesterday (that was nice) and then I went for a bike ride after. I just have so much energy now, I can't believe I put up with the way I was feeling before.

I've been noticing, that it really hasn't mattered how much/little I eat lately, just whether or not I get enough fat. The more fat, the more calm/weirdly energetic I feel. I can't explain it. It's a nice feeling.

Yesterday I was really feeling the need to fat load. I still seem to be having some digestive issues from Saturday's food (shudder). And the weight I had gained from then was still hanging in there. This morning, however, I'm feeling mostly better from getting that fat and my body obviously needed it since my weight dropped down to 218, just a half a pound off from what it was before Saturday's binge. And that's even from still being really full after eating that fatty sirloin at 11pm last night. mmmmm, steeeaaaak

When I saw your grilled sirloin, I thought it said "salmon" instead of "sirloin"! lol

It did get me to thinking though; have you been eating any fish with your new food plan? Also, have you tried using nuts in your breading, etc, when you are doing your "chicken fried" meals? They make a good way to bulk up the breading or batters, and are really tasty, AND they are on your menu! :D

LOL, yeah, well, I haven't had any fish yet since starting this way of eating. I've only just started trying out fish for the last couple of months. (I used to never eat seafood at all) And apparently my allergist just found out at my last appt that I'm severely allergic to shellfish. Guess it's a good thing I could never bring myself to eat them. However, I do like a well prepared salmon and tilapia, but the other kinds of fish are just too ...... fishy. LOL I do have some tilapia in the fridge that I'm planning on cooking up here in another day or two.
Yeah, I'm ok with eating the occasional nut when I feel like it, but using it for breading would be just too many.

So yesterday was a potluck at work, and I brought in some bbq beef and mozzarella cheese and buns for sandwiches. I was doing really well until they brought out desert. And it wasn't even that I was hungry or craving anything, it was just that it looked sooo good.
So I had an inch squared of both the carrot cake & brownie and two of the small small chocolate covered strawberries. OMG, those were perfect! Unfortunately, after eating all that sugar all at once, I got the worst stomach ache and was miserable the rest of the afternoon, soo sleepy and tired. I'd forgotten what that was like. Yuck! never again.

So, I'm not going to write down every thing that I had to eat yesterday, just 'cuz I don't feel like it (although the 1/2" thick T-bone for supper was fantastic), I'll still write down my cals and percentages.

I was actually surprised when I got on the scale this morning. I figured that sugar would have stalled me again, but I lost another pound so now I'm a half a pound down from where I was after Saturday, 217lbs!! Yay!

Yeah, I was doing so good after that food day, except with still getting all that chocolate cravings from that TOM, so when my parents suggested we all go out to the casino buffet, I figured I'd get it out of my system. (But it looks like I got it all in) Cuz I gained 4lbs from that little episode. OK, I'm done with that stuff now. Blech! Yeah it was tasty, but definitely not worth the stomachache or the the weight gain.

4 pounds is rough, but you can do this. Get back on that wagon. A little break is a good thing, but ew those stomach aches don't sound fun.

Yeah, being back on the wagon is a good feeling; enjoy it.

The 4 pounds is probably not all hard-to-lose weight, some of it is probably water from your increased sodium intake. Just try not to let it bother you and look at the long term loss instead of the short-term gain. ;)

Nobody is perfect, you don't have to be either. Fair enough?

Yeah, thanks guys!!! I really appreciate you guys stopping by and encouraging me, really really appreciate it!
Yeah, I know I couldn't have eaten enough to account for 4 lbs of real weight, but it's still discouraging, especially when it didn't even make me feel all that good afterwards. I guess that just makes getting back on the wagon feel that much better.

Consider it a bit of positive reinforcement on the "Healthy eating" habit :D
I know how that encouragement thing works, I have needed it plenty of times myself ;)
