Males Only Support Club!!!

This thread seems like a good idea, even though the womenfolk told us to do it;)

I am but a Newb here but as I have been reading the various posts and threads I am beginning to think that there is a very fine line between being supportive and being enabling. I am just thinking out loud here but what do you all think?

As for keeping weight off, this worries me too. I have lost significant weight twice before and gained it all back and more on two occassions. I am more hopeful this time around because I have gotten to the point where my weight gain is threatening my health. Fear is a great motivator.

There is more than just fear that keeps me going, however. Being 85 pounds over weight deprived me of many things that I loved in my life. I want to regain them. I want to do things I enjoyed so much in the past. Losing wieght and keeping it off feels like a reclamation of my life.

Trout,

Tell us more about the binge. What were you thinking or feeling when you did/do it?

Is there anything in losing weight that you find stressful or even frightening?

I have binged before out of a sense of frustration or even fatigue. What goes through your mind when this happens?

Did I kill the thread?

I have been reading more about the health risks associated with obesity and I have to say it is scaring the @@@@ out of me. Since I started losing weight I have gone from class II obesity(BMI 35-40) to class I obesity (BMI 30-35), which is some comfort, but more than ever I want to regain my health. I can hardly believe that I have put myself in this situation.

At this point, I seem to be the only member of this club:confused:

I have been invited out to dinner this evening and am nervous about it. I haven't been eating dinner for several weeks now. i am not looking forward to this. I am not sure how i am going to eat little to nothing withouh causing offense. Perhaps I should be straight forward about it? My weight problem is clear for all to see, after all.

I think that you need to just eat sensably with just cutting out food that is not good for you mostly junkfood from fast food shops. If you like fast food as I do let it be a treat about once a fornight or so. Another tip eat something about every 3 waking hours, ie 7-10-1-4-7 that makes about 5 meals a day. That way you should not get to hungry, but keep it to about 300-400 caleries each meal. If I go out I eat, but try to make a low fat choise such as pasta etc. I also try to fit in 1-11/2 hours of excersise each day. I definatly fell better If I excersise.

just found this thread. Think its a good idea but it seems others did as well. well ill be in the shadows here and there.........

The dinner didn't go so badly. I worked out before hand and then ate sparingly at dinner. I feel a little bloated all the same but it is on the whole a lot better than it could have been. We'll see what the scale has to say about this little adventure tomorrow morning.

BigBear, Sounds like you did well, keep up the good work. I've heard that if your going to skip a meal, dinner is the one to skip. But who knows you hear lots of things.

well guys we eat thats what men do. face it have you ever seen a guy with a tweety bird appetite? Just think some of our metabs can handle it better than others. I think even when we get to where we want to be its always gonna be a problem....

That's what I fear as well. I love to eat and I am afraid of gaining the weight back once it is off. I have done that before, as I am sure many here have.

bear its a conspiracy..... you have one health zone which is wayyyy to small and the rest are obese. No worries mate it dosent account for frame size and all kinda other things.

Well, I am still fat, that is for sure. One look in the mirror confirms that. I am looking forward to the day when I can move from "obese" to merely "overweight." That will happen around 220lbs.

Anyone got any ideas for staying on track when having to eat in restaurants for business meetings and not completly going off the deep end with food?
My company pays for all meals when on business. It's hard to resist.

Wanttobuff1, The company is paying, you have it great. It seems like you have a good situation. Usually their will be some broiled fish on the menu. If you don't like fish you will learn to. If I can learn to love a fish I hated (salmon) it is possible. If your going to have a salad it must be fat free salad dressing or salsa or none at all. Even if you have a hamburger with no cheese & no mayo or french fries that would not be bad. Thats my 2 cents anyway.
