Make a seperate day for cardio?

If I'm going to be doing HIIT for cardio--would you suggest doing it on it's own day? Right now I do it after I do lower body weights/exercises. Thanks for any input. Oh--I jump rope now that it's cold outside. But I do have a stationary bike and a heavy bag. Would you suggest just doing one? Or splitting up the 20 mins. among 2 or 3 of those? Thanks again.

I suggest doing it on a seperate day, after your workout you already be tired and your energy stores would have been depleted, not allowing you to perform HITT effectively and increasing the chance of muscle loss.

You can do your HIIT after any of your weight workouts without any need to worry IMO.

But can you REALLY do HIIT after a workout? I think either your workout will suffer or it really isn't HIIT. I know when I'm done with HIIT on a spinning bike or on the road bike, I am totally gased and fatigued (gasping for air, bent over, ready to puke, RPE of 18 - 20 on the borg scale) and the last thing that I would be able to do is hit the weights afterward or before.

Absolutely, I've done it for years.

Read what I said, do can usually do HIIT afterwards, not before...

Anyone who is young and in half decent shape can handle HIIT after weights IMO. With the possible exception of a ' legs only ' workout in which you blast / exhaust your legs.
