Hi y'all!

To make it quite simple to describe my self:
- I live in the UK
- housewife( I know it sounds bad)
- I'm 170cm tall
- 78 kg (ooops)
- I'm scorpio sign which should make me ambitious and determined. Generally I really am..but weight It's tabu (still)
- I'm mum of one beautiful girl
- I'm all alone in a foreign country..that's me, my daughter and my husband..so feeling quite awkard, alone, that kind of stuff...I talk to my mum almost everyday but still can't hug her.
- I loved my figure before pregnancy, I was never thin but hanging on at 62-64 kg most of time and being well proportioned always helped me a lot
- I hate drinking water...don't know why I look at that glass as if it were poison to me...but I love coffee, black tea..green tea and I mean in the proper way..not like I have it now with sweetener and skimmed milk. horrible, horrible taste!!!
- been through some nasty experiences with copper coil, Mirena coil...then went to contraceptives...My GP thinks it's them that don't allow me loose any weight..so for 2 weeks now I'm drug free and hopping will make any difference in my weight loss.
So all you girls that have something in common with me..let's all join and say a big NO to fatty foods, sugars and bloody carbohidrates!!!
I plan going back to being 62 and if possible even to 59kg, first for ME and second to give a smack on the bottom to people who think I can't do it!
thanks for reading me and will keep u posted! :angelsad2:

update mady1911

Hi guys!

They say that the best way to keep to your diet is to have your meals planned one week before or at least 1 day before. it's almost 10 am and still don't know what am I going to have today. my fridge is packed with veggies, so I'll probably have a salad and grilled fish or chicken breast for lunch.
Weather seems beautiful today so I'll take my daughter to play in the park..that's a plus for me...some exercise.
I was thinking this morning about my genetics..they don't help me much to be honest...mum was always overweight, doctors said it has to do with thyroids issues and she took it like there's nothing to do to solve it..and ate her heart out. I was pushing her to diets all the time but she would not resist more than 3-4 days. Saying: ' I can't do it..leave me alone!!!' And because her obesity health problems were as follows: high blood pressure, weak heart, glaucoma, thyroids, 2 back operation for disk hernia, over the roof cholesterol most of times.
My grandma is even worse...all of the above except the obesity...but still overweight...plus diabetes, arthritis and God Knows how many more!
On my father's side...they're all thin and healthy...wish I had something from them!!
I was 90 kg when I went to hospital to give birth to my daughter. after 3 days I went on the scale..I had lost the weight of the baby and nothing else...3 kg! 1 year and half I breast fed...every time I was trying to reduce meals my milk would stop! But there's no excuse for the other year and half that went on without being able to loose what's plus.
I followed a diet last year, around this time and went to 70kg...fainted after 2 weeks and couldn't go on. My GP said I under ate and that only salads won't keep me healthy. in 2 months I've put back what I lost with so much sacrifice.
So this time...I have to succeed! I have to do it!!!

update 22 of June 2011

Today I woke up with a baaaad back pain. I already know what I'm gonna eat:
Breakfast: cereals(45g) with skimmed milk
Lunch: soup creme of vegetables( 1 carrot, 1 parsnip. 1/4 celeriac, 4 tomatoes, 2 onions, 1 small potato) comes to about 5 bowls :smash:
Dinner: soup creme of vegetables( can't think of anything more healthy and suck low calorie intake- 1 tablespoon of olive oil added at the end..that's 89 kcal for the entire pot :coolgleamA:).

Yesterday:
Breakfast: salad made of 2 tomatoes, 50g cucumber, 2 spring onions, 1 teaspoon olive oil and 100g low fat cheese
Lunch: skipped but had 1 matzo meal cracker and loads of water
Dinner: 1 homemade low fat meat burger+ half potato( the other half wouldn't go in...think it's my conscience) + homemade salsa.

Thought a lot about what Amy1985 said...so I'm gonna start running or walking long distances. If today won't rain I'll go and meet up with a friend that's 4.5 miles away from me ans she's vegetarian..I can grab some healthy recipes from her :Angel_anim:.

Have you looked at recipe websites for low calorie recipe ideas?

I don't know what kinds of foods you like, so I looked for recipes that are said to be suitable for children (so you may not have to feed your daughter something different) and low calorie. (The energy ratings on Taste are in kilojoules, not calories. There's 4.2 kilojoules per calorie, so those numbers look very big when they aren't)

(this one is one of my favourites)

(made this the other day, is quite good)

Hope this gives you some ideas :) And really glad you're getting into the exercise.

Hi again!
I've been to Romania many times a couple of years ago for buisness , it has so many pretty places!!!:)
As you found out by yourself starving your self WONT work it will cause only damage to your health.
Eating healthy is the key to loosing weight and keeping it off.
I try to have a salad with every main meal so i cut down a bit on the meat, chicken and fill up on the veggies. But NOT ONLY VEGGIES,you need to eat everything, meat , fish , chicken fruit ect...Maybe just chocolates!!!:) wont help , but even that in small controlled ammounts are really fine!!!
Ive trird calorie counting and for me it didnt work.BUT i do have an idea of how much i eat.I counted in the beggining and got really fustrated.I know i must have 1500 cals a day to loose a kg in a week.So like today i know my meal is low cal , so i had a small shocolate this morning.Another day that i know ill be eating something higher in calories i wont have the chocolate.
I have manages to loose 1 and half month 7 and half kg.
\If you let yourself get hungry you are most likelly to eat more.So if you want , go for 5 small meals/snacks a day.and LOTS OF WATER so very important. We are here for support so dont wory and be happy that you are starting to take care of yourself!!!

Oh my God, Amy!

Those recipes look delicious...I'll definitely try some of them.
Yeah, Romanian lifestyle is quite different from what others eat. In UK people drink a lot of tea..in my country u only drink tea when you're sick :)). And plus...I realize now when I go back home to visit that the food is high in everything u're not aloud to eat and wonder how they can eat it. My diet changed for the better since I live in UK and always try to put a salad next to a meal, and if I think it's full in carbos..I insist on the salad and eat less of the rest. So my question would be...if eating what I thought it was healthy made me look like this..then eating Romanian style...how big would I become?:smash::leaving:
I think what actually got me so fat is bread..that was a must have with every meal..and definitely sweets. overall food wasn't bad...but coffee with 2 sugars and whole milk...pancakes...and others..that I was having with no remorse!

Cheers! and thanks again for the recipes! :drool5:

Nice hearing from u again!

Yes, you are so right! I read on British heart Foundation that excluding carbohydrates from your diet completely can have severe repercussions on your heart and can damage your health really bad. So I promised myself that everyday of the weak I'll include something from the list: one day bread, then pasta, then potatoes, meat, etc. But half the portion...
Yesterday I've made homemade burgers and baked potatoes in foil..I just couldn't eat more than half potato...
It's really hard...I think we should admit that...going from ' I eat what I please and when I please' to: 'I eat only what's good for my body, regular meals, down on sugars'...What we need to do is pull ourselves together when we're down and not give up!!
Waw, 7.5 kg...that's really good! congrats are in order. :hurray:
Thank you so much for your support! I really appreciate it!:seeya:

Doing well?

Yesterday I added 3 miles walk to my exercise..I know it's not a lot...but my chest was stinging me on my right hand side and couldn't breath...I could hardly make it home :( Had this problem before when I was jogging but never took it seriously, but now..I was just walking... anyway..woke up with my legs muscles hurting every time I put my feet on the ground.

From what I read around here, I find that are many that leave for last (dinner) what's heavier in calories. I, at least, try to concentrate most of them in breakfast and lunch. So for dinner, something easier to digest like a salad or something that the stomach doesn't have to work hard to digest. Because we all down that during night time, our system slows down processes.
Another thing is combining loads of carbohydrates into a single meal...like meat, potato and bread for diner...may'be this is were I have some work to do too...
Some eat consistently dinner so they won't have cravings or appetite for sweets or other things...but I discovered that a bowl full of salad can keep u satisfied as well, and it sure is easier to digest then meat over the night.

It's so easy to talk in theory..and very hard to apply in day to day life!
But I'm sure that with loads of determination we can all succeed!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Thanks a lot!:hat:

I think that the last meal must be the lightest of all.
Also if you sleep normal hours at night no eating after a certain time lets say 8pm
And if you are hungry after nibble on some carrots.
Its the most important thing your portions.Thats whats putting the weight on and also off!My portions were huge. Also i used to eat sweets before i went to bed....
Dont panic take it easy one day at the time. When you see your body transforming you'll be so proud and happy!we all can do this its in our hands!

forgot to ask.So you stretch out before and after running?its important so you dont injure yourself
Also when runing dont stop suddenly, instead slow down gradually to get your heart rate down slowly not suddenly

3 miles is a lot to begin with. You should be proud that you managed it- but do what you can manage, and not what hurts you or you struggle too much with. You should always be able to get home. Well done, but don't push yourself so hard.

I can't speak for other people, but I leave a lot of my calories for dinner because that's what works for me. I'm used to having lighter breakfast and lunch then heavier dinner, so that's what I've stuck to. My understanding is that it doesn't matter when you eat, as long as your calories are less than what you need, you should lose weight (if you eat right before bed you might have trouble sleeping, but it shouldn't noticeably effect weight loss). If you prefer to have a heavier breakfast and lunch and lighter dinner, then all power to you. If you find it's not working, change something. As long as the calories are ok, you should be ok.

You don't have to combine so many carbohydrates, either. I think meat potato and bread dinners are usually unhealthy. Have you seen the NHS guidelines on what you should be eating? I just try to follow those. It doesn't have to be too complicated.

Play around with these things and find what works for you. If it doesn't work for you then it won't work out in the long term.

Sorry, guys...I left myself misunderstood..what I wanted to say was that having heavy dinners and combining carbohydrates doesn't sound like a good idea to me. But as we are all different what suits some...don't suit others!
Cheerio!

Hiya!!!

I wasn't running :)) walking..fast pace but still walking :sifone:. It was so rainy in midday so I decided to do some indoor exercise...and late in the evening I had to go to supermarket and instead of throwing myself into the car like usual I decided to walk the distance as the clouds cleared...
I don't feel like exercising now...everything is acking but I'll go for a loooong walk when hubby comes home from work:toetap05:
I haven't went up on the scales...I'm so afraid will show more, because I don't have regular stools:piggy:

How's your diet going? Are u exercising?

Have you thought about some form of fibre supplement to help keep you regular? Something like one of these?

(sorry if that's too personal, just trying to help)

yes, I tried several to be honest...come to think of it..it makes me mad because every time I go to my GP and complain about it she gives me laxatives, even if I require further investigation. I even kept a food diary for 2 weeks and she found it awkard because she said: your diet is not bad at all! But did not proceed with any further investigation. She's gonna call me on 29th to talk about my cholesterol and will mention it again. The thing is that I get bloated all the time no matter what I eat and of course..constipated! Frustrating:cuss:

Go back to your GP and tell her you need more help. And if she doesn't want to change anything, ask for a second opinion. My understanding is it's your right to have a second opinion. You shouldn't have this problem, and if those sorts of things won't solve things it sounds more serious.

In the meantime, have you thought about tracking the fibre content in your food, and perhaps increasing it a little? I'm sure you've tried these things but as a measure before you can get medical help, it can't hurt to try again.
