Made the paper

Scott,
I may be doing similar work in your area next year. I have a few political connections out there, and I'm looking into an opportunity to move to Phoenix/Scottsdale possibly as soon as this summer. I have a business partner out there trying to get me to relocate. It's tempting. I love that part of the country.

I know a few other trainers in the area too, so I may still continue to train. I got to meet with a strength coach named Marc Verstegen last time I was out there. His club gave me a serious case of gym envy. My current club is really nice, but it's a few mil short of his facility. I'm really tired of owning a health club though. I love training, but managing a club is for the birds!

Thanks everyone!

Evo, it looks like there is a ripe opportunity in that community for you to establish yourself. Become a vocal advocate for improved infrastructure and public transportation. Read up on it, get a quick education and organize some an action group or team up with an existing one with the same goal. What's the saying? "Think globally, act locally".

Thanks, JP. I'll check it out and see what I can do.

I may actually have some connections in your area to get you started. Up till my resignation from the governor's council, I was the SW Regional Director for the National Association of Health and Fitness (NAHF), and they are always hungry for fresh blood. The bulk of the members are chairs from the various councils around the country but you can be a member without being on a council. I think you just can't be a board member. Good place to start. You can make some great connections in there.

As for your local council (I think I know some people from the MN council--isn't that where you're from?), in most cases, you can attend all public meetings, and just offer up your help as an advisory member. Once you've paid some dues you will be well positioned when a board position opens up for an official appointment.

Here are the pictures that went with the award.

Inicdentally, Gov Huckabee is the author of the best-selling book: He lost 110 pounds a couple of years ago, and he's kept it off. Now he has run 3 marathons as well as many 5K's. I was fortunate enough to have him as a guest on my TV show last year before this book came out. Keep an eye on him, because he may very likely end up being our next president. Rumor has it that he will run, and he is quickly gaining popularity across the nation with his platform, which is changing the health of America.

I hope he doesn't just have his eye on domestic policy, although that slogan can be applied to a myriad of other things...

Not like anyone has their eyes on domestic policy right now!
