Lyle on Deadlift Form

Haven't read it yet, but I've bookmarked it. I've been looking for a guide to deadlifts. ExRx is pretty good, but there's not a whole lot of info on what's correct and what's incorrect.

Lyle's write up is quite good.

Here's the vid I did on them:

Mark Rippetoe has some excellent videos over on crossfit too. I posted them around here at one point in time... I'm sure if you do a search for the word "rippetoe" and posts made by me, they'll turn up.

With those three sources, you shouldn't have to look anywhere else.

And it would be cool if this forum were like others I belong to where people would actually film themselves performing particular exercises so form could be critiqued and corrected. I know on my forum this is something I will be pushing for.

Cheers man. That video is perfect. I'll be sure to check out the rest.

And that's such a great idea, having people post videos of their form for critique.

*edit* Oh, and I should add that article by Lyle is incredibly detailed. Great advice.

Hmm, I only used the deadlift a few times to supplement my squat, I'm sure it would come in more useful if I had different goals.

Interesting (yet long) read. Luckily my highschool coach was fairly accurate at relaying the correct info and steps to a deadlift.

There are few gems out there in terms of high school coaches.

Most coaches I've encountered couldn't instruct a squat or deadlift to save their lives. It's unfortunate too, since these lifts are becoming more and more popular, rightfully so.
