Low Carbs VS Low fat

hi;i want to loose some fat and weight off my midrift basically so i can get ripped. i know that the only way to do this is to make a calorific deficit which requires the right balance between dirt and cardio. i have increased my cardio program however i am having trouble with will power for 'not snacking'. i am getting better at eating less carbs and choosing a salad over a pizza though. i was just wondering which type of diet was more effective to aid fat loss. low fat or low carbs? oh and just another quick question; for most effective fat loss is it best to do both weight and cardio training on consecutive days or should i just drop the weights for the moment and concentrate on cardio.

Whichever one you can commit to is better. Neither Low Fat or Low Carb is inherantly better for fat loss, IMO. A balanced diet would be best (equal calories from fats, proteins, and carbs) if you eat few enough calories.

As for exercising for fat loss, weight lifting > cardio. Without resistance training, you will lose more muscle mass while losing weight. Cardio is useful for weight loss in that it can help you create a calorie defecit. Its great for overall health and increases your activity, but if you're not creating a defecit, you won't lose fat. Same is true for any type of exercise.

you'll want to do both weight training and cardio if you're looking to lose weight. and as far as the diet, I do mostly low fat and I try to avoid carbs but still probably have more than I should. try to focus on counting calories more than anything though

When I'm trying to lean out I focus on cardio, and the quality of the fat and carbs that I eat, but I agree with the above posts: it's really about balance and calories.

Doing cardio 5-6 days per week and cutting carbs after 5PM works for me, but I wouldn't do it year-round because I like to look muscular, and I don't want to burn them all up. I read an article in Fitness magazine this month that says interval training is one of most efficient ways to burn fat, so maybe look into interval training and make up a new cardio routine for the Summer?

yer, i use interval training when i'm doing cardio. for the weight lifting is light weight high reps better or supersets interval training?
