I dont eat any pasta or breads at all. I eat nothing but fish (salmon), chicken breast, steak (mostly lean type), vegetables, salads (with just enough dressing for taste), an apple (for fiber or a pear), and South Beach Meal replacement and snack bars. I use no butter or anything that has high carbs, fat or calories per serving. Carbs dont always give you energy. They can weigh you down too. I stick with high protein (up to 200 grams a day), and under 50 grams of carbs a day. That works for me. I take vitamins, B-12 (energy), Iron (energy), and Glucosamine (joints). It all has been working great for me and im losing weight just fine. My water intake is quite high, and sometimes I add lemon juice to it to flush out the kidneys (it acts as a diuretic). My after workout drink is Powerade Zero which has no calories, carbs, or anything else in it. I eat a meal replacement bar 1 hour after working out since the body is still burning calories and it is recommended to wait 1 hour after working out to eat. Protein is always included in my meals.
Low carb is not a bad way to go. If you can keep carbs low, and still maintain energy, then keep a low carb, low fat, mid to high protein diet. It will work wonders!
