Elderflower Eden ( MY FAVE!) - One shot of gin, 3 drops elderflower essence, diet tonic water and a dash of lemon juice. Add curls of cucmber if desired :) 60 cals per glass

Cosmopolitan - Half shot of orange flavoured vodka, half shot of cointrou, shot of cranberry juice and half shot of lime juice - shake with ice and strain - 120 cals per glass

Green Apple Martini - One shot of Apple flavoured vodka, 2 shots of pure apple juice (shake with lots of crushed ice, strain and drink ) - 113 cals

Raspberry Marguerita - Handful of raspberries (fresh or frozen), one shot tequila, half shot triple sec (blend together with crushed ice), add a shot of lime juice and shake. Pour into wide glasses - with or without ice. 136 cals per glass.

Spritzer - 3 shots of wine (any white), top with diet soda/tonic water - 110 - 140 cals per glass (depending on wine used)

And of course there is always the option of having your favourite spirit with a low cal mixer :) Voka and diet coke always works a treat for me :D

I have tried all of these but there a loads more recipes out there and with all the new flavours of vodka on the market, low cal cocktails are easier than ever! Of course alcohol is a little treat but we might as well cut the cals where we can! :Angel_anim:

Anyone else got some recipes? Having a party next weekend so new ideas would be great!

Sorry no ideas but I want to give a thumbs up on wine spritzer. Since wine is somewhat low cal compared to other types of alcohol I drink mostly wine and a spritzer is a nice way to enjoy wine. I typically use a semi-sweet pomegranate wine for this. However I'm careful to use wines that aren't just flavored juice added to grape wine and don't have sugar added. Proshyan Pomegranate from Armenia is a great tasting wine for a pomegranate wine spritzer. Honey wine also makes a nice spritzer.

For the beer folks, Beck's has a low cal beer out that is only 64 cal per 12 oz.

Cordless Screwdriver- Take a shot of vodka and then suck on a orange wedge.

I don't really do a lot of mixed drinks. Makers Mark and ice. Thats my mixed drink.

Thank god for the low cal drinks. Now you are talking my language! That is the hardest part of my new found healthy lifestyle. I now enjoy my beverages one day of the week. And now I have ideas that will make the cal sting less. I enjoy the light Smirnoff Ice it is not all that bad. Vodka also has no carbs just what you mix it with does. Keep the drink recipes coming. Oh how can we make a Margarita lower cal?

Maybe someone in the know can explain the difference between a Mojito and a Mint Julep to me. I think they're the same, except one uses rum and the other uses something else....

i can't say this enough..

NEVER DRINK ANYTHING THAT IS THE SAME COLOR GOING OUT AS IT IS GOING IN :D

Seriously - real beer isn't that much more calories than the swill that passes itself off for light... If you like the taste that's great but if you're drinking it just because it has l ight on the label - get over the calorie count andd rink a better beer for more satisfaction.. you will drink less - save yourself some money and well -probably some calories.

Fun fact from Guinness's web site
GUINNESS® DRAUGHT - 196 CALORIES PER PINT
Semi-skimmed milk - 260 CALORIES PER PINT
Orange juice - 220 CALORIES PER PINT

lol. I'm not a cork sniffer so beer is beer to me. Sure I can taste the difference between Guiness and Bud but I can't taste a difference in Bud to Bud Light and it doesn't bother me that both look like pee. I actually prefer plain old pee colored US lager to any hoity-toity microbrew sludge or overpirced import. Well with one exception which is happens to be Hoegaarden. However the color classifies it as "same in, same out". But yeah I like the low cal Beck's, tastes great to me.

I agree and disagree. Without doubt light beers are not nearly as good as their heavier counterparts but the same can be said for almost any food or drink you can think of. If I was planning on having 1 beer with a meal or at an event by all means make it a good one and I wouldn't argue your choice of Guinness being the one you reach for. In almost all cases though the light versions of a beer will have around 50% less calories. If you are planning a day at the lake or beach and want to down 5-6 beers or more that can add up to 500-800 calories. Thats a lot.

I would also add that while I love high end beers and micro-brews and usually have it if I am having a few drinks with dinner or with friends. When it comes to drinking at the lake, beach, or sporting event. I go with good old bud or bud-light. I think that is why those mass produced beers are so popular in America. While I love a good stout or ale. I could never drink 7-8 of them while out on the boat fishing.

Yuengling makes a light beer that is not to bad either. Although if you can handle about 50 extra calories I would suggest their Black and Tan.

my point wasn't really that you should have a guinnness over all others - but more that you should go with what satisfies you and most people generally consume less..

Even if someone is drinking to get drunk -a heartier beer will get them drunk faster with fewer calories than a lighter beer will.. (and I'm happy to provide the number for AA to that person as well)

I feel the same way wiht food - a full fat product or even reduced fat product might have slightly more calories than a fat free product -but the satisfaction factor is far better... (for me) and I will have less of it -thereby saving calories in the long run

Gotcha mal. Although I will argue your second point. Most light beers have a decrease of 30-50% in calories but only a .5-1.5% percent drop in ABV% so you cant get more alcohol intake while consuming less calories by drinking full strength beer. Although why anyone would drink beer to get drunk when there is hard alcohol. I have no idea.

I'm always looking for a way to drink on the weekends, but to save calories while doing so! It's hard finding a good drink with low cals and tastes good. But honestly, I found the PERFECT drink. I always drink Voli Vodka cocktails because it only has about ~50 cals in it, plus you never get hangovers. so freakin awesome.

Hey everyone, i would like to share my low calorie cocktail recipe with you guys. It's called Sangria Sparkler and it's tasty and you can enjoy during anytime of the day. I tend to make this mixed drink when i invite friends over or when it's a nice sunny day outside.

Here's the recipe..
1 cup light orange juice
1/4 cup brandy or cognac
1/4 cup orange liqueur
2 tablespoons sugar
2 medium oranges, sliced
2 cups club soda, chilled
Crushed ice and/or orange peel curls

i would just mix this in a bowl and serve it in a pitcher. (Serve when it's extra chilled for better taste)

*Following with Joan's comment on Voli Vodka, I have recently visited my local Sam's Club in California and there was a new display for this low calorie Vodka label called Voli Vodka Lyte. I decided to try it since i am on a diet. That same day, i used it for my Sangria and it was great! The flavor and taste made it splendid. It's super low on calories and that's what i like! So glad that you mentioned it!

Here's their website if you guys want to check out what we both have in common (low calorie vodka) http://******/uXtoZe

I am def a low cal fanatic too...I usually go with the Voli Vodka mix wit club soda because their flavors are pretty good so you don't need all that extra sugary calories!! they have some cool mixes on their fb page...check it out. http://on.fb.me/rLrJnl

My favorite is mixing vodka with diet tonic water and lots of lime. ~80 calories. Dilute with a lot of water so there's no hangovers and plus you save a bunch of calories. Goodluck!
