Low Blood Pressure?

Does anyone know if weight loss can cause low blood pressure? or can anything associated with weight loss (ie low cal diet, weight training, cardio) attribute to low blood pressure? I have been cutting since last july, im down like 75lbs and just within the last few weeks ive been getting kinda light headed. Not during workouts or anything, just randomly ill get dizzy and my eyes kinda dark over slightly, its kinda scary. I went today to one of those automated blood pressure cuffs in the grocery store and it had my Systolic at 105 and the other one at like 67 and my heart rate at 57bpm. My mom tells me this is low. I dont know what to do, i wanna keep hitting the gym but dont wanna hurt myself bc of this problem. Is there any way to raise my bp so these symptoms go away?

The optimum level is about 115/76 The national average is about 130/88 You are105/67. Now for the record those self test in stores are usually not the most accurate. Have your mom or someone els sit and take the test in the same one you did.

do it yourself (and your second person) 5 times in a row then average that out. As well as keep the individual numbers to see how much if might fluctuate.

Or simply if you want go to the Doc and get him/her (or more likely) his/her nurse/assistant to take your PB

low blood pressure

I have a master's degree in nursing and let me set you straight-your blood pressure is fine. Its much better in fact than 120/80 which is not considered ideal anymore. In fact your BP could be quite a bit lower and still be fine as well.

Unless one has a genetic disposition to low BP, then there could be a medical reason as to why its so low.
Now if you were indeed a "Nurse" i would think the "dizziness and light-headed and my eyes kinda dark over" he described would be sign of something, do you not?
Telling him to flat out ignore the low PB and other symptoms is unwise, unsound, ignorant, and flat out wrong advise.

So here is a small excerpt from the American heart association

Low Blood Pressure

Within limits, the lower your blood pressure reading is, the better. In most people blood pressure isn't too low until it causes symptoms such as lightheadedness or fainting. In certain conditions or disease states, blood pressure can become too low, as in these examples:

* certain nervous system disorders (orthostatic hypotension, autonomic failure)
* endocrine disorders (parathyroid disease)
* heart attack and heart failure
* prolonged bed rest
* fainting (syncope) (SIN'ko-pe)
* decreases in blood volume due to severe bleeding (hemorrhage) or dehydration
* effects of certain drugs
* severe infections (sepsis)
* shock

Normal blood pressure with respect to cardiovascular risk is less than 120/80 mm Hg. Unusually low readings should be evaluated to rule out medical causes.
