Hi everyone.
I am a mother of 3 wonderful kids, that have left me with not so wonderful baby fat. Before my daughter (14) I was 5'10" and 100lbs. Almost TOO skinny! I had that super-metabolism and ate like a horse. Pregnancy has changed this for me over and over:
child 1 (she is 14):
started at 100
top weight of 210
post partum weight of 160
child 2 (he is 2.5):
started at 186 (thanks to a long battle with infertility and medications)
top weight of 206
post partum weight of 186
between 8m and 12m post partum I dropped 20lbs
child 3 (he is 8 months):
started at 166
top weight 206
post partum weight 184
was down to 176, but stress eating has put me back up to 180 currently.
I was down to 150 when I met my current husband (previously married and my daughter has a different dad) but had the typical "happy" weight gain that I blame on me having someone to cook for again. He gained a good bit as well. Ideally, I would like to be 150, 140 would be better. I am also now only 5'8" due to poor bone density.
Some things I need to deal with are obviously the difficulties with getting workouts into a busy mom's day. My baby won't take a bottle, so I have to work around his nursing schedule. My 2 year old has autism and so that makes it difficult due to various things like all his therapies (4 different therapies right now, and I do about 20 hours of one of them on my own with him) and difficulties with chosing babysitters to help. My 14 year old comes with her own hassles as she has her own life so to speak, but she is capable of babysitting the boys if she is around. My DH works long days and I rarely can rely on him to be around when I have a chance to work out.
I am also both a boredom eater and a stress eater. I have caught myself "hiding" how much I eat from my husband... but at the same time I know he wouldn't ever say anything. I think I am just embarassed when I stress or boredom eat.
What I have going for me is that I have a variety of equipment. I have hand weights, a jump rope, exercise ball, etc. I also have a Wii and I have Wii Fit as well as Personal Fitness Trainer that I just started yesterday. I have decent walking paths in my neighborhood (no front sidewalks) and I am on the edge of the city so there is a nice straight sidewalk that starts a couple blocks away and runs along the edge of town with very little traffic.
I am hoping to start running and do something like a 5k run, a half marathon, etc. I ran in high school and really enjoyed it. I would also like to start swimming laps again, but that is harder to fit in due to schedule limits of pools. And finally, I have thought about joining the adult part of the dance class/studio my daughter used to be in.
