its just fat burning, there's no one way to shift either just get a perfect diet and perfect training and they'll shift like another body fat.
unfortunately the first place you store the fat is the last you use it, whilst also the last major body fat you have is the most difficult to get rid of.
you can keep doing the chest and oblique work and crunches etc so that you have a decent amount of muscle to eventually reveal, and this will improve your overall shape.
otherwise eat clean and train (and rest) hard.
