Love Handle removal recommendations???

Within 1 year (starting Feb 2008), I dropped 60 "extra" lbs off my body. During the first 7 months, the weight came off very easy. The next 2 months was a huge struggle and the last few months have been at most, 1 lb per month. If wondering, I still have 5 lbs to drop. Most of this remaining weight is persistant "love handles". Mostly on the front and sides of my soft belly area.

If wondering, my normal exercises are: situps, push ups, TM, Glider, stationary bike, skip rope, run up/down stairs and 4 mile jogs every other night. Also do hand weights and some shadow boxing as well.

To remove my remaining "love handle" area, what new exercises should I use?

thanks.

If there is a love handle exercise, I would also love to hear it! Ha

I weighed 108 lbs at one point and still managed to have love handles. If they didn't disappear then, I'm pretty sure I'm stuck with them.

Fat loss does not work like this. You don't get to pick and choose where you lose the fat.

Below is a cut / paste info block from a reply that was provided on a different forum.

Hopefully, this info will help "Shep03" as well...

Increase the calorie deficit to lose body fat. You just have to keep losing body fat until your body decides to remove it from the love handles (basically a genetically determined thing). "Spot reduction" attempts are ineffective for all practical purposes.

Calorie deficit can be increased by any or all of the following:

a. Eat fewer calories.
b. Do cardio exercise more, or at higher intensity (if you go up to anaerobic intensity, do it in intervals).
c. Gain muscle through more intense strength / weight training, so that the added muscle burns more calories at rest.

Regarding c, have you considered doing pullups or row type weight exercises? These will work the big muscles in your back and help them grow and become stronger, balancing out the chest muscles that you are working with pushups.

Note also that your pushups are getting easier as you lose body fat, since your body weighs less; you may want to think about adding weights (with a weight vest) to your body when doing pushups (and pullups as you get better / stronger at them).
