Lost in an ever expanding waist line

Hey!

I'm Jewels, 26, Canadian (so I'll say "eh" a lot) and weigh 227lbs. I know exactly what I need to do to lose the weight, I know what I should and shouldn't be eating and I have a gym membership. I just need the motivation and drive to do it. My head keeps telling me that I want to. I avoid mirrors at all costs and have even gotten to the point where I avoid eye contact because I don't want to see people looking at me.

I'll never be a size 3 (like my Mother) and I'm happy with that. I'd like to get back down to the 140-150 mark and it's going to be a llllllllooooooooooooongggggggggggggggggggggggggg battle, if I can do it. I'm just looking for tips, advice, somewhere to rant and the confidence to get off my J-Lo and actually make the changes.

Hey, Welcome!
We are great at support, you can count on us!

I do the same thing, or used to, sometimes still do .. I look down when I should be looking up ... exude a lot when we walk certain ways ...
keep your head held high ... you are going to lose the extra poundage hun!
We all are doing it and you can too! No worries.. ..so more your J-lo to the diary area and start the rants and observe other diaries for info and as others usually say ..read the sticky threads ... lol I just checked these out and after since June ...it would have helped if I had done it in June .. lol
well I am pretty much starting off and since reading have lost a few more pounds ..so sticky threads are your friend! :)
best wishes hun!

always

Howdee!
Welcome to the sight. I'm fairly new here myself, but have never
been so excited and motivated to lose weight (in my many attempts over the years), as I have been since finding these forums! Not only have I found tips, advice, motivation and support, but I'd like to say that I have also found a few new friends as well.

if I can do it
Bah there is no IF about it- YOU CAN and WILL DO IT! :)

heheh get off your J-lo :rotflmao:
Welcome and I live with my bf and his parents which is great (no rent) but they cook and buy all the food! Seems like it'd be great but Vietnamese food is either way LOW in calories or WAaaaAaaay high in calories and if I don't make it and somethings are from the oriental market and I have no idea how many calories are in them. . .
What is this weightloss4idiots diet you speak of? ^_^ has a good name
I shall google it! :rotflmao:

I know what you mean with I know how I should do it, how I should eat but my bum is too heavy... very literally ;)!
I have figured out that my problem (apart from some insecurity issues with me and the world) is that I am afraid of failure. I used to be an athlete and I know I won't get there again, weight and mental-wise. I am afraid of not managing to be thin again.
Could it be that you are holding on to your fats for some reason too? Try to figure that out because once you are determined to get it off your hips it should be ok. You KNOW how to do it!! That is great!

I totally understand what you are going through. I could not find the motivation either. Sometimes I would get ready, head out for the gym and drive back because I was not in the mood. Looking at the big picture would overwhelm me because I want to lose a lot of weight. I just broke my goals down into smaller ones, for example lose 8 lbs by the end of this month. I have gone to the 3 times this week, I am tryin to get up to 5 days a week. let me know if you find inspiration elsewhere because I still need it at times,

I've done the gym thing before and it can be motivating with everybody working out. It can also be intimidating. If being intimidated by going is a barrier, how about walking? It's free, you know how to do it already and it requires a minimum of equipment.

Weight training is important, but at the beginning stages, when you have a good bit of weight to lose, getting your body moving on a regular basis is what's most important. Doing something regularly so it becomes habitual is crucial. As you lose weight the walking can become jogging or a trip to the gym as you become fitter and more confident.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the support everyone. In the few days I've been a member here I have to say that my determination and motivation have gone up one hundred percent. I'm eager to weigh in next week and hopefully make a change to my ticker but even if it only goes by a pound, I'm pumped. That's one pound gone and it's a start. Thanks for helping me along the way, your advice and motivation are appreciated!
