Hi notforlong, and welcome!
Firstly, congrats on the 17lb loss! That's so
awesome!
Now, if I could make one recommendation: take pictures. Of course you don't have to share them unless you want to. It's for your benefit alone. One thing I've learned with my own weight loss is that you cannot expect immediate results of any kind. It's an extremely gradual process and patience is an absolute
must. The end result is certainly worth the effort though!
Since you see yourself every day in the mirror, it's going to be very difficult to see the transformation. If you take a picture of yourself about once a month, eventually you'll be able to see just how much you've actually changed. It really helps with motivation as well
Unfortunately, since the process has so many hurdles due to it's gradual nature, many people give up or fall back into unhealthy habits due to frustration. You can't allow that because, as long as you don't give up, anyone and everyone can be successful. It saddens me when I see people get frustrated and quit since, if I can do it, anyone can! I know it's cliche to say that, but it's so true!
Realize it's not a diet, but a lifestyle change. It eventually begins to feel unnatural not to exercise or eat right and you'll miss it should you ever have to skip a day.
Also, you tend to lose a lot of water weight in the beginning of an exercise regimen. Your body isn't used to it and it's being shocked in a sense. Weight comes off quickly at the start, but there a few factors that determine how much of it is fat and how much is water. How many calories are you taking in, and how much water are you drinking? Your body is pretty smart and regulates itself. If you're drinking too much water, you might lose water first, then fat. It really depends.
Just hang in there. You're doing great and you will begin to see differences very soon!
