Hello community:
I just wanted to take some time out of my day to define what weight loss really is. I believe weight loss is more than standing on a pedastool to measure the mass of ones body. Thats not what weight loss is all about. You must look further, and think about certain aspects.
Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Andrew and I struggled years ago with a severe weight problem. I have experienced alot along the way, and i am not in excelent shape. I lost over 55 pounds in the course of one year, and it took much more than just measuring my weight. At this point I reside at about 8% body fat which I am very proud of, as I started out at roughly 28% body fat. Now, I am 6 foot 3 inches tall and weight 190 pounds, what an accomplishment of my life.
The reason why I am here is to fight the obesity epidemic that seems to be taking over our country. (America) With my experience and knowledge, I feel that I have the power and mind to help tackle such a large problem, so here I am. I would like anyone who needs advice or ideas when it comes to anything such as things from weight loss, physical fitness, body building, please contact me and I will gladly help. I enjoy working out and discovering new ways to loss weight, so please feel free to pick my brain. You may also visit my LINK DELETED that i have set up in order to help people achieve their goals, and that is what i am going to talk about today.
You must start off by commiting to the idea that you want a healthier new you. Until you convince yourself that this is what you want, you will continue to struggle with your fight. Everything changed for me the day that I realised how sick of myself I was, and how much I wanted to be better and healthier. I realised the long term effects of being so over-weight. Once you commit yourself to helping yourself, the tracks to success will have been layed at that point.
The next step is to set goals. If you do not have goals, you are essentially not trying. You are expecting results to happen on their own. This will not happen, and believe me, I struggled with this. Once you set goals, you must meet these goals and even more, exceed them. Take for example, the first goal I set for myself was to be active at least 30 minutes per day. It didn't matter what i was doing, I simply had to do something active for this amount of time each day, even if I just walked. (Walking does make a huge difference.) Even further, I made another goal to surpass my goal of 30 minutes everyday. It was great though, because everytime I did, it made me feel great, and I wanted to do more. I was making progress and that is what setting goals will bring you.
Last off, you must follow a proper diet to obtain great results. I know we have all heard this time and time again, but it stands true. Diet is roughly 75% of losing weight, and you will not achieve the results you are seeking if you don't follow a healthy diet. I know it sucks, but it is extremely important. Be fun with your diet; cook some new interesting meals that satisfy your diet needs. That's one of my favorites.
This is my first post to this forum, and I plan to post many more. Again, please send me a message if you are in need of help with nearly anything that is weight loss or physical fitness related. I am in college for sports medicine, and I have been very active for much of my life at this point. Thanks for reading!
