Losing weight

Hey guys, i am pretty new to these forums and have found them very helpful right now i am debating on a few things, and wondering if maybe some of you may help me out with it. My age is 16 and these are my measurements:

Height: 5"10 or 5"11
Weight: 188pounds

My goal weight is to be bellow 170pounds, and not have as much fat around my body. At this time i have a pretty chubby stomach, with some stretch marks on the side of my stomach not a whole lot though. I have began running every second day, but i have a few methods to consider on losing my weight.

- Lots of cardio exercise, almost everyday (Planned run's and unplanned stuff like walking/biking to friends houses etc) and light weight training (Exercises through body weight/dumbbells)

OR

- Limit my cardio to a minimum of every second day after i do weight lifting (Focus mainly on weightlifting, so 15min run, 30min weight lifting and focus on all parts of my body)

What way would you think would be more efficient, and better in the long run, would it be better to do both, and swap say every month? but a few problems with that is with the second choice i would require a gym membership, and it may or may not be a pain to buy a month, then dont buy the next month, and then pay for the month after that. I know you could say, just run in the gym but i feel as though im wasting money because i get a better workout running outside in the fresh air by running up hills, than running on a treadmill.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks, Dylan

I am in similiar boat and have similar stats (if a but older lol) Im 28 5'10 and was 186 lbs. I have lost 8lbs so far, what I found helped alot was diet of course cutting down the carb intake and interval training

Your plan sounds good, but I dont understand why you want to work out one month, then not workout the other month. There are some gyms that only cost 20$ a month, and you pay month by month if that is really want you want to do!
From what I have learned thru the years, is that the best way to loose fat and keep it off, is to make sure you find what it is you do wrong with your diet (what you eat) and change it, (eat better) and also to exercise.
I tried so many different ways, and found that the best, is to do both cardio and strength training. Long cardo session never worked for me... but you can do what is called Intense Interval cardio, which is to start slow on a threadmill or bike, than go as fast as you can for 90 seconds, then go back slow until you are rested enough to sprint again for another 90 seconds, then do that again 6-7 times! Its proven to have more results as to burn fat! I like to do strength training every day, but one day you do lower body, the next you do upper body.
Eat a lot of protein and stay away from processed carbs (white flours, sugar, white starch) carbs are important but only in the form of whole wheat flours and grains!

You will do fine :) Remember that if you do strength training, you might gain a few pounds of muscles before you loose fat weight, because muscles weigh more than fat, and the best way to know if you are loosing (fat) is to how your clothes fit and NOT the number on the scale!!

A healthy proper diet and regular exercise are the best ways to stay and keep in shape. Avoid processed food, fast food, and the like! :)
