Losing weight so I can eat more later, bad idea?

Hi,

I'm a 22 year old male in my senior year at school. I get really stressed out at school and need to do some things before I can graduate. These things are rather stressful, so over the last 4 months I have been losing weight through healthy diet and exercise. I am 5'10, and currently weigh 142 pounds but I think it's closer to like 145 after dinner (I weigh myself a little too much).

In June, I weighed about 165. In September when school started, I weighed about 150.

Basically, I am willing to go back up to 160-170 in the Spring (my last semester) because I eat out of comfort. I intend to eat healthily, though, just something like say, 3000 calories a day (sounds like heaven to me after all of this calorie restriction). I have never been able to really get rid of all my cravings, but I have been able to stick to a low calorie diet most of this time. It was 1500 for parts of the summer, but I do not drop below 1800 now because I believe I may weigh too little to try to take off say, a pound a week. I lost my willpower a few times, but I tend to make up for it the next day at least somewhat. Sometimes I'll have a 4000 calorie day and feel awful the next day. The worst was probably about 7000 calories one day.

My goal is to weigh 135 by January first, which is not underweight, but it makes me feel like getting through the rest of my college degree will be heaven and one of the best times of my life.

I rushed this post a bit because I have to get to a class, but I'll have more to say later on. Thanks for giving my thread a view,

Enjoi,

It sounds like you have a plan that works, but it difficult to stick to. Do you think that maybe the 1800 calorie diet is too strict?

You may want to consider, instead of eating 1800 for a while, then 4000-7000 for a few days, eating 3000 calories consistently?

At 5'10'' 142 lbs., your weight is just fine. The ups and downs in weight is really not healthy.

Whats wrong with being 5'10'' and 142lbs.?

maybe consider an exercise plan if you're slim but you don't like how your body looks. It'll do wonders to tone you up if that's what you're looking for. And it's healthy! I'm just sayin', my boyfriend is 5'8, and when he was 135 he looked very ill.

I think by trying to get to 135lbs at 5'10" is very unhealthy and you will end up very sick.

At your height a good weight would be 160lbs+

Have you considered weight training?

I absolutely agree with this. 135 is way to thin for your height. Now of course we dont knwo what you look lik eor what your build is, b ut for 5'10" no matter what your build is, is very thin, especially for a male. I would seriously look into weight training...The more muscle you have, the faster you burn fat and you may not need to worry so much when the time comes that you eat more.
Also, allowing yourself the room of 25 pounds to gain when y ou eat more, doesnt sound healthy either...Will you do this again next year too? I just cant imagine that it is good for your body to fluctuate like that so often.
You will do what you want to do....but be careful! :)
