Losing weight for me and the team!

Well im starting a weight loss journey once again and this time i will prove everyone wrong, I CAN lose the weight.
I am currently 217 lbs and want to lose about 60lbs. I really need to do this for myself and my field hockey team. We've just moved up to div.2 so the pressure is on. I am the goaltender so there is a lot of pressure on me to make sure that im in shape.

Ive tried countless times to lose weight but never received any support, which i am hoping to find here. I've started jogging recently...even though it is my enemy, but i just need to keep working at it.

I am also a vegetarian and still unsure about getting the proper nutrients in my diet. Any advice would be great.

Sounds like you have some good motivation, since you and your team have a big goal. You can do it!!! As far as diet, have you spoken to a nutritionist? That might be a good place to start to make sure your body is getting the right nutrients. Best of luck!

If you're going to talk to a professional, go for a registered dieitican over a nutritionist.. anyone can call themselves a nutritionist - doesn't mean they have any type of skill or knowledge... at least with an RD, you know they've at least gotten minimal education.

As for making sure your body is getting proper nutrtion, it will be helpful to know what your starting point is - it's tough to make changes unless yo know what you're currently doing.

I'd suggest getting an account at or one of the 100s of other free nutrition tracking sites on the web and accurately record everything you're putting in your mouth -that's generally going to mean weighing and measuring portions... most people tend to eyeball and the eyeballing measurement isn't always correct.
