Losing Fat

Hi, I'm 17 years old and am currently at a Sixth Form College and I'm trying to lose a bit of weight but am having some trouble. Mainly what I am trying to do is lose the fat on my stomach and tone it up and I know that even if you have great abs you can't see them under a layer of fat. I don't know how much I weigh since I've never weighed myself and I don't particularly want to but I am not overweight, in fact I'm quite slim (size 8 in UK) it's just the stomach I am having problems with.
I do an hour and a half of running with my school once a week (it will be more these next few months) and I walk (and run if I'm late for something) quite a bit everyday at school. I do around 50-75 crunches everyday and I'm hoping to take up yoga for only a week before I go back to school. I can't take up any after school classes as I just really don't have any time.
I understand that diet plays a huge part in it but I have troubles with this as I do not cook for myself as I live at home with my family and I am not sure what kinds of things I should be eating and do not have much of an idea about calories either.
How can I focus the weight loss on my stomach over a shorter period of time?

Well basically you answered a lot of your questions with explaining why you can't do things you need to do;)

First figure out if you have the time and desire to really put serious focus towards your goal, its a very important part of the process.

You need to focus on your diet. Read the nutrition section, look around the forums all the answers are here.

You need to start a healthy exercise plan with some full body strength training and some cardio. Start off simple and easy if need but put good focus. Crunches everyday just over trains your abs and gets your no where.

If curious about your caloric needs go here
and get a rough estimate of caloric needs. In order to lose weight you are going to have to subtract 300-500 and add activity.

Read the stickies at the top of each section all the way through, its the best book you don't have to buy. If after that you have any questions that are specific post away.
