losing fat lifting

just about 4 months into my program now and alls going fairly well...strength in all major body parts has more than doubled but it almost seems as if i'm getting more cut than gainig muscle.started out with sets of 30lb dumbells for 10 and have now worked up to 70lb dumbells for 8(about 4 sets)on flat bench
Have gone from about 220lbs down to 204 and now back up to 208....my diet has been as good as expected and have lost noticeable amount of fat in the gut and rear end...especially under the chest and in the ribs/lats and back as well
question is how could i be making such good strength gains and losing fat like that on a high protein diet...is it possible i'm losing muscle and should be eating more...currently at about 2500 cal a day about 200g protein

without knowing your lifestyle, height, and age, I can only say that the calories don't look so low that you're destroying muscle tissue.
nor does it look high enough for you to put on much mass, especially if you're not middle aged, and around 6 feet tall.

to lose fat, you need a calorie deficit
to gain msucle, you need excess calories

sounds like you have been shedding fat and gaining strength, but not much size. typical results.

simply altering your diet can also lead to fatloss. Nutrient timing plays a major role in retaining/increasing lbm as well as fat storage/burning.

if you are eating more now but you are eating good food, that could be leading to your fatloss.

Why not get your bf checked regularly to track your progress instead of just guessing?

You can get hyrdrostatic weighing or bioelectrical impedence tests... OR, do it yourself :)
