Losing Body Fat in Steam room?

I am in college and am a cross country and track runner. I weigh 158 and and 5'10... i just found out from dexa that i have 11.4% body fat.

We have a steam room and sauna at our school that i could use everyday. I was wondering if I could lose some body fat from being in the steam room for like 10 min. a day or if it just drains water weight? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

thanks... how do i lose some body fat then?... i weight lift and run about 55 MPW... i try to eat healthy... i have a decent six pack but i have some love-handles and fat in my lower stomach..

You are very lean as it is. Most serious athletes are as lean as you are. You really shouldn't try to get much leaner it is not healthy. Women who compete in body building contest (not pro level) get to ~ 6% and can only maintain for a few days. The sauna only will dehydrate you. But if you want to go out one night and look hot do it, but don't drink anything ;)

it's really hard to lose any more weight, I'm at about 164lbs with 7% BF, I run about an hour to an hour and a half a day, and I maybe lose pound a week

No i just want to get rid of my love handles and some fat in my lower stomach.... i dont necessary have to lose weight.. if i could lose the fat by converting it to muscle..i do abs nearly everyday... so i dont think thats the problem.. maybe a different diet?

Try lifting more weight and do less reps at the gym.

Another thing you could try is take a few days off. You might be over training which is bad too.

One other thing is you could Cut out carbs after 4pm and fruit after noon.

Hope some of this helps

Sauna users follow these simple precautions:
  • Avoid alcohol and medications that may impair sweating and produce overheating before and after your sauna.
  • Stay in no more than 15-20 minutes.
  • Cool down gradually afterward.
  • Drink two to four glasses of cool water after each sauna.
  • Don't take a sauna when you are ill, and if you feel unwell during your sauna, head for the door.

Just water weight.

Only way you lose fat is if you die and it cooks off of you.
